Sea Surface Report Hatteras to Florida 8-10
The sea surface temperature along Cape Cod, Buzzard Bay, Vineyard Sound, and Long Island increases a few degrees to about 72 to 75°F, while the temperature along Block Island is 69 to 72°F. The sea surface temperature directly along the coast from New Jersey to North Carolina is currently 74- 77°F. As you move east off coast the sea surface temperature gradually increases to first 76°F, then increases to 81°F, and then 85°F once you hit the Gulf Stream. There is a oscillating warm water eddies located at 39°N and 71.5°W. This eddy is also carrying water between 79-82°F. There is a sea surface high off of the coast of Cape Cod that is currently 20 to 25 cm above sea level. There is a slight sea surface low off of the coast of New York and New Jersey that is currently 5 cm below sea level. There is a low water system off of the northern coast of Pamlico Sound that is currently 25 cm below sea level.
