Block Island to Cape Hatteras
The coast of Rhode Island is currently 53°F. The coast of New Jersey through to the Delaware Bay, however, warms to approximately 58°F. The coast of Delaware through the coast of North Carolina warms to 63°F. There is a warm water eddy in the Chesapeake Bay, circled in black, which is currently 66°F. When the Gulf Stream swept up the Atlantic warming the coast, it also left behind a few eddies. Off the coast of North Carolina there is a warm water eddy that is currently 70°F. Off the coast of Delaware there are two warm water eddies. The more northern eddy is carrying water temperatures ranging between 64 and 66°F, while the more southern eddy is carrying water temperatures ranging between 64 and 68°F. There is a small sea surface high forming off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard that is currently 15 cm above sea level. There is a sea surface low in Delaware Bay that is currently -10 cm below sea level.
