Sea Surface report 5-28 Block to Hatteras

Block Island to Cape Hatteras
The coast of Cape Cod Bay is currently ranging between 57 to 59°F. The east coast of Rhode Island is currently reporting sea surface temperatures of 53 to 55°F. The coast of Buzzard Bay and southern Rhode Island is slightly warmer 59°F. There is a cold front in Block Island Sound that is currently 52 to 55°F, while the remaining coastline along Rhode Island and northern New Jersey is ranging between 57°F in the north warming to 61°F. There is a cold water system on the coast of central New Jersey that cools the coastal water back down to the 58°F. The coastal water then warms back up to 62 to 63°F. Southern New Jersey is also reporting cooler sea surface temperatures at 58 to 59°F. Looking off coast, there is a large warm water eddy at 39.1°N and -71°W. This warm water eddy is carrying water temperatures of 62.5 to 64.5°F. The northern coast of Delaware is currently 57°F, with southern Delaware warming to 61°F. The phytoplankton imagery shows that there is some primary productivity along the coast of Cape Cod Bay and Buzzard Bay. There are also high levels of phytoplankton productivity along the coast of Pamlico Sound. There is a low water system off of the coast of northern Rhode Island that is approximately 10 cm below sea level. There is another sea surface low off the coast of the Hudson Canyon that is also 10 cm below sea level. There is a high water system off of the coast of Roanoke Island, North Carolina that is currently 20 cm above sea level.
