    Sea Surface report 5-2 Block to Hatteras

    Block Island to Hatteras
    The water off the coast of Rhode Island and northern New Jersey is currently 50°F. The coast of Long Beach Island, New Jersey and southward to Delaware Bay is currently 53°F. The coast of southern Delaware warms to 57°F, with most of the Chesapeake Bay and the coast of east Pamlico Sound currently 60°F. Pamlico Sound is currently 66°F. If you move off coat there are three eddies moving inland. The southern eddy is the warmest carrying 65°F water towards the coast of northern North Carolina. The middle eddy is just circling with cold water. The northernmost eddy is also moving inland and carrying 60°F water. The chlorophyll map shows that there are high levels of phytoplankton productivity off the coast of Block Island, Chesapeake Bay, and Delaware Bay with relatively lower levels along the remaining coastlines. There is a high water system off the coast of Rhode Island with a high of water system 15 cm above sea level. There is a low water system off the coast of Delaware with a sea surface low of -10 cm below sea level.
