Sea Devil fishing report Pt Pleasant Beach 11-22
Sunday November 20, 2011: Greeting us at the dock, were Captain Bob and the lovely Cindy. We had a Great Gang of people come down to the dock and join us today. A few of them: Ex Sea Devil mate John Chiviarini and his gal pals two sons Ryan (10 )and Tyler (12), the Cancelmo brothers, Chris and Mark, along with Marks girlfriends' son, Paul Gretzer, Anthony Vicente and friends, Billy Meyer(10) and family, long time Sea Devil striper fisherman Dan Kalinski, Barry Engleman from Princeton, (with fellows from " Sara Jane's " restaurant (Somerville NJ)) , to celebrate chef Carlos' upcoming wedding, Alex and daughter Sam, Mike Masewski with nephew Richard Rowe (15) and Gitny and his two boys were aboard along with a host of others including, of course, Team Sperco. The team consisted of : Team founder Paul Sperco, captain Deb, Iron Man Chuckie Frith, team fashion designer Marty "The Stitch" Barlow, Eddie "The Jig master" Mackin, and last but not least, ever reliable anchor Daly. Joining Eddie, were his groupies, Chris from Boz Electric and Matt "Danger" Campagna. Working the deck , were , Mike "Hollywood" Ajamian and Chris "Super Star " Mackin. What a picture perfect day it was. We can't believe it's only 4 days from Thanksgiving, and the weather is so nice. Bob eased us out of the slip, and we headed out of the inlet and headed south. We sailed down past Seaside to fish off of Island Beach State Park. Slow start, then 12 year old Tyler had the first hook up, and landed a Killer Sea Devil Striper! That was the only fish on this drift, so we moved. On the next drift, Anthony Vicente landed another striper on a rental rod. Then a Blue fish came over the rail in the stern. That was it, so we moved again. On this drift, Deb landed a striper! Guess what happened next ? Of course, we moved again. The next drift saw Ginty and Paul landing stripers! A few big blues came over the rail also. Eddie Mac and John C were busy hooking up, and handing the rods over to some of the kids. Another move, more of the same. Anthony got another one. Gitny got one. Deb woke up and landed a Blue -Striper double header. Future husband, Chief Bottle Washer and Head Chef of Sara Jane's , landed a striper ! Dan Kalinski, killed them yesterday, but was having a slow go at it today. Paul got another striper. Alex got a striper, while Sam giving it her all, was struggling. It was a slow go today, and we were about ready to pack it in and head for home. That's when Bob spotted some action ahead of the boat. A large flock of Gannets started working the water. So we headed over there. Fish were breaking all over the top of the water. We set up a drift and all heck broke loose! Rods going off all over! We drifted out and did it again, same thing, fish coming over the rail. After a while, things cooled off, and it was time to head in . We stayed about an hour late , and just about everyone on the boat got into some stripers and blues. Congrats to: Marty Barlow, winning the pool with a 24 pound striper!; Paul Gretzer, who landed 6 big blue fish; Billy Meyer with a 14 pound blue fish; Danger with a striper; Richard Rowe, who caught his first striper ever!; Sam for catching as many fish as dad caught; and Deb's cookies.
