THURSDAY-Friday, Sep 29-30: Excellent catch of big tuna & a swordfish! Every angler caught at least 1 yellow-fin tuna. Many limited out! BP sailed to the Hudson Canyon and anchored up after scouting around. “Jiggy Jeff Graham” hooked the first fish in less the five minutes. This big yellow fin tuna hit the deck after there were 5 or more fish on. In the first half hour six big tuna were on the boat; some anglers were not yet awake and at the rail! A great way to start the night! Troy Andrea hooked into a swordfish and the tuna action quieted down until the swordfish was landed. Around 4:30 a.m. a feeding frenzy began again. There was a steady 6 or more fish on through 6 a.m. Lots of noise with so many fish flapping on deck, waiting to go in the fish holds. (We like that sound!) It slowed up some until about 7:30 a.m. when we had another dozen or more hookups. What a great trip! Every angler caught at least one big tuna! We had mostly yellow fin tunas along with many long fin tunas, and a swordfish. The majority of anglers caught 2 or more tunas. Jeff Graham, PA, was high hook with 6 big tunas; 5 of which he caught on a jig. Rob Hunter, Bayonne, was close behind; he landed 4 big tunas.
