CAPTAIN BOB PENNINGTON's Fishing Report

Wednesday, August 31: Bob sailed north out of the inlet and read alot of bait fish. we made a quick stop, not successful. He continued up the beaches and made a stop off from Long Branch, not much action there. He sailed up to the Rocks, spotted some fish up top, yay! big blue fish hooked immediately. All big blues were caught on jigs. Most fish caught early on weighed twelve + pounds. Later in the day they were mostly 8 to 10 pounds. Lia Chen (12), Arlington, VA, reeled in two giant blue fish, one was the biggest, a 15 pound blue fish! More highlights: TheMcCloskey boys, Whippany, NJ had a blast hooking into killer Sea Devil blue fish. Ryan McCloskey (12) reeled in a few on his first trip aboard the Sea Devil. His brother, Conor, hooked into several that were so big they kept getting away until finally, the last drift, a big one hit the deck! Ted Zizlsperger, Morris Plains decked two huge blues and lost a few. Chris Coda caught a few and some fluke and sea bass. Pat, Adam & Shawn caught their share of big blues and some keeper sea bass. Plan to fish Thursday, Friday or Saturday: September 1, 2 or 3.
