CAPTAIN BOB PENNINGTON's Fishing Report

Sunday, August 21: Bob headed north today, found some birds working just north of Asbury Park and we started to jig for blues. Paul Sperco immediately had a double hit: one on a jig and one on a teaser. Sal "The Bear had one as did just a few others. It was tough catching. BP got the word that some big blue fish were seen at the "Rocks and we headed up there. Daniel Boodoo, NY, NY, hooked into and landed a 10 pound big blue, which was big enough to win the pool. The big blues were tough to catch and did not stay around for very long. Some anglers switched over to catch fluke and sea bass. We sail daily. Plan to arrive by 7 a.m. "Ever reliable, Cool Hand Fluke Daly" was among the missing today. A shout out to "V" Hogan. We could have used your help today! Hope to see you next Sunday!

Saturday, August 20: Bob sailed east, southeast of the inlet and we picked away at few small blue fish. Blue fish action was not found anywhere so many switched over to fluke rigs and we caught some fluke most of the day. Chris Zotti, Summit, NJ won the pool with a seven pound fluke. We shout out a Happy Birthday to Chris N, Luzerne, PA. Although girlfriend, Michele Udzello caught the first fish, Chris ended up high hook for this special day! Welcome Don & young Philip Cancelmo and friends! Also a special hello to Nick Mariolas, Philip Vogis, AHEPA family fishing trip! A great time was had by all!
Friday, August 19: Bob sailed south out of the inlet today and found some small blue fish. We picked away at the blues as Bob listened to the reports from boats searching for blue fish in other areas. There was little blue fish life to be found else where so he spent the best part of the day picking away at small blues and also catching some fluke off of the Mantoloking beaches. Joseph Jadran, Bloomfield, NJ, won the pool with a ten pound cod fish.
