First out day break jigging anglers worked their way up the beach found pods of stripers to jig and limit catch. Anglers who blew all the way up to Brant Beach and Harvey Cedars, as far as I know didn't come up with fish. It is possible they did catch later in the morning. Anglers trolling stretch 25+ found bass outside of Wreck Inlet. Little Egg Inlet anglers working the bars with bunkers and clams had an ok day with most of the catching coming on the half way out tide. It sounded like there wasn't much happening before and after the mid outgoing tide. There were quite a few anglers making use of the nice weather that were headed out late in anticipation of an afternoon bite on the incoming water.
There are some big blues around too. Big blue of the day was caught by Scott Grove at twelve pounds, 34". Scott also had other bluefish and an eighteen pound striper to round out his trip. He also reported the action dropping off as the wind picked and found that to be an acceptable time to call it a good day.
Fresh clams status is basically out. There are maybe two bushels here to start the morning with more due 11:00am-ish. Fresh bunker are almost gone too. A possible delivery is expected this afternoon, but the bunker are never here until they are here. We do have plenty of frozen and salted clam as a back up bait plan.
It's hard to figure, but SW winds are supposed to blow up again this evening making the ocean a little bit bumpy if you get too far from the beach. If your thinking about jigging and trolling tomorrow, it's anybody's guess as to what the seas will be in the morning. The forecast is for 2-4 building to 3-5, not so good. Sea Ya
