Scotts Bait and Tackle, Mystic Island,Fishing report 4-1
Thursday, Apri1 1, 2010 /\/\/\ 5:57pm
There was just a little bit of striper activity reported today at Graveling Point. Huge amounts of fresh water dumping out of the Mullica River might have made the bass be picky. Anglers found that holding the rod gave them an edge on catching the stripers. There wasn't much of a difference between a perch bite and a bass bite.
Last night, anglers fishing Pebble beach reported slower activity too. Anglers I spoke to this afternoon were hopeful that this evening --with a combination of sundown and the incoming tide-- might bring an improved bass bite.

The bass have not been bothered in the least by all the rain. Anglers have had keepers every evening this week at both Graveling Point and Pebble Beach. Bigger fish have just been over the twenty eight inch mark with no sign of those twenty pounders the last couple of days.
A few anglers checking Batsto Falls, but there have been more anglers then fish. The run-off is incredible and might cause some delays with the fish coming up the river, no idea when or if they will show this Spring.

Fishing Report:
Hey Scott, Stopped at your store and picked up the grass shrimp and bloods, also my reels that you refurbished for me. Excellent job! They look and feel like brand new. Headed out of Chestnut neck to Collins cove for the perch. Nadda. Got one really fat bass about 21 inches. Changed spots to the west and started getting little perch and another 24" bass. As the tide receded caught all 3 to 5 pound bullhead catties. 12 in all. The wind started kicken my butt, so called it a day. Gary

Rainy and wet as it can get... Anglers whooped up on the stripers at Graveling Point today. Not much action until late morning when the water crested the banks and most of the outgoing. A lot of shorts and a handful of keepers up to thirty two inches. Good news is that the action is on. I was worried that there wouldn't be much with action with a water temperature drop, but those fears are put to rest.

Word today is skimpy on the stripers this morning, though we did have one weigh-in. Greg O' thinks the cold snap dropped the water temps just enough to make the fish sluggish. So they are still there, just not biting as much this morning. Hopefully, the activity will pick up more this afternoon on the warmer dropping tide.
