The stripers are all gone? The gannets are all gone? Anglers who fished in the Little Egg Inlet had a very peaceful fishing day. No stripers bothered them all morning long. Trolling anglers ran across the same circumstances; the stripers disappeared. Best guess, there was a water temperature drop from 53 to 48 degrees. This may have pushed the stripers offshore where anglers wouldn't fish for them as it is outside the Federal legal no intent to fish for stripers line.
Barnegat anglers still caught fish. Deeper water may be the key as there is deeper water inshore of the three mile limit.
The storm that is moving through on Wednesday will churn things up and get us another bite going with warmer water temperatures again.

Most of us are just not ready for these below freezing mornings. Fortunately, the wind backed off and made for a very nice morning to be on the water.

Little Egg Inlet anglers were entertained by the Gannet show, but not so much by bass this morning. There was an occasional fish; best guess the bite will be during the later, falling outgoing tide.

Yesterday, some anglers found bass by working the bars in front of Brigantine Inlet.

Trollers and Jiggers are covering tons of miles working from the tip of Holgate to the Brant Beach lump. Tough part is finding schools of bass that want to hook up, but when they do finally locate feeding fish, catching ten plus bass is an easy feat.
