There has been some action of ten to twenty inch stripers caught along the banks of Great Bay. Some of the anglers are plugging them too. I don't have any specifics about where to throw those poppers, though. Best guess is to fish the banks anywhere there is a creek meeting the bay, or little alcoves that you think might be holding some peanut bunkers. There were four stripers caught on Graveling Point Thursday a week ago. I didn't mention it as I though that it was an anomaly. Turns out there is a little bit of a bite going on at the point. Several other anglers have also caught the little bass this week too.

One of the anglers had a pound and and a half bluefish today that was almost hard to identify as the coloring was all wrong. The tannic acid dumping out of the Mullica River actually colored the little bluefish brown and gold!

Blowfish and tog action is still the best target fish action this weekend. Just enjoy a good Fall day on the water.

Nothing new to pass along this evening so I am going to touch on the common over the counter fish questions I was asked today.

Are there any spot? Still no spot action anywhere local. There were a couple caught here and there in September, but I don't think any angler was able to accumulate more then three.

Did I miss the croaker action out front? No, croaker action never happened this September either. The few that were caught were caught out on the AC reef in eighty feet of water; that is very strange for croakers as our best fishing was usually in eighteen to twenty five feet of water right out in front of Little Beach between Little Egg Inlet and Brigantine Inlet. At this point, I would say any chance of croakers is over for this season as well.
