Snapper fishing is holding the interest of all ages of fisher people right off of the back docks. One angler reported catching snappers up to twelve inches long! I saw some of the little blues that the kids were catching at the end of the lagoon that were starting to get a little bit of girth to them too. It's just plain ole fun catching them on ultra light tackle.
Still no good news to pass along from fluke anglers. Just a couple of shorts reported from the LE reef and a couple more down off of Wreck Inlet in about fifty feet of water. Everyone that is trying to catch a fluke is convinced that they are not gone it's that they are still hunkered down after the large bottom heave from Hurricane Irene.
The seabass fishing is good. BUT, not all structures are producing fish. Best suggestion I can offer is to move around a bit. The one angler who whooped up on the seabass was not on any one of the reef sites --just an individual wreck in about fifty feet of water.
Good news for the hunters...the Fall permit digests came in today.
We also received a couple of stacks of the Decoy Show program books to hand out too.
REMINDER: SHELLFISH HARVEST BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT . This only applies to clams/oysters, not fish, and the state will retest next week.
