There isn't any good news to pass along today. Very few anglers were out and about. Maybe temperatures in the twenties has something to do with it? Folks that worked the bars of the Little Egg Inlet found it to be very quiet. Trolling anglers covered plenty of ocean and didn't see birds and came across no schools of stripers either. The fall back plan for Tog didn't even work out as just maybe the roiled ocean from yesterday has the fish all hunkered down.
The water temperature isn't that cold yet; it's not over. All the action will return with ocean trolling and jigging likely to outperform the bait fishing in the bays and the bars of the inlets.

Took the small boat up the beach Monday morning for a great day trolling stripers with the neighbors. Hit steady action north of brant beach in 30' to 35' of water (fish at 25") from 10:45 am to 1:30 pm. Caught stripers only, no blues, all keepers in the 36 to 41 inch range. Fish hit on umbrellas and diving plugs with multiple hook-ups. Best part... only 2 other boats in the area.

Wowzers!!! Thank goodness the wind is out of the South. December North Easters tend to scare me. Anglers were nonexistent today.
