Two reports below really back up everything I have heard today. Not a lot of catching but, there are fish around. Most anglers stories detailed the occasional run-off and even the occasional boated bass. Several anglers tell similar tales that the hook-ups of the missed fish really bent the rods indicating a little bit bigger run of fish.
A good cluster of boats worked the mouth of the Mullica River area too. Only one reported catching a couple of bass in the twenty eight to thirty two inch fish by drifting live spots.
Rumor mill indicated that maybe the best action was in the Grassy Channel today. The few boats there that I know had fish bought clams and clam chum this morning. Just something else to think about...
Yes, anglers are still catching spots, but they are few and far in between now.

Fishing Report:
A real fishing story. Anchored up in the LE Inlet near the intersection of Little Beach and Grassy Channel around 7:30am. Ten to fifteen boats in the area. Not much happening most of the morning. Saw one fish caught around 10am. About the time we thought it might be time for a move, 11am, my son gets a hit. Fish runs off a lot of line. Goes near and under a nearby boat. Anglers have to clear their lines and then the fish wraps around the anchor line of the other boat. The guys were really decent. Pulled on their anchor line enough to see the fish and netted it for us. Unhooked fish, untangled the line and held the fish until we could get close and handed it over to us. First time I have had a fish landed on another boat that we caught. Thanks to the guys and their great help in landing our fish. Sportsmanship indeed.

Fishing Report:
Made my first serious full day striper trip for fall 2010 with two of my usual crew members. Found some white water and within an hour Frank had and lost our first fish when his line broke for some unknown reason. Had potential of being a very nice size striper. 15 minutes later John is hooked up and he finesses the fish into the net. First bass was a nice fat 38/39 inch fish. That was it for the day. Fished in another location inside for incoming tide until 3:00 pm with only skates and crabs taking interest in our baits. Overall a good start to the season. Didn't seem like there was much going on anyplace. Only a few other fish caught that I saw or heard of on the radio.

There was no lack of anglers today! Word is out about the stripers and with the first decent morning in some time with the potential of catching some nice fish, everyone got in on the action. I just hope that the fish cooperated.
I have no specific details about todays' catching events as the weather was just so nice that we didn't have any anglers back through the store this afternoon. I am sure there will be some details --good or bad-- to pass along tomorrow.
