A little bit of snow coming is not going to help build ice on Collins Cove as the snow acts as an insulator and can also camouflage bad areas. The forecasted temperatures are looking plenty cold to make the ice. It's a wait and see game at this point.

There were several calls asking for the ice status on the Collins Cove. Collins Cove is the Hot Spot for ice fishing for white perch in the Mullica River just West of the Garden State Parkway Bridge. A couple of days ago, the wind had the river clear of ice. Ice has now started to form in the cove, but I don't think that we will see any safe ice very soon. If it really gets cold, maybe there will be anglers looking and testing it on Monday of next week.
North Jersey head boats have really been the only fishing that anyone has talked about. It has been very quiet here locally due to wind and the post holiday bustle.

I can't wait for the weather to start getting warm. I love spring and fail. It wont be long now for spring striper run to start. I just hope the snow will be gone by then, it may stay to July the way things are going.
