Sat June 13 2009 report Sundaze Sportfishing
Headed out Sat and hit the Hambone area looking for some bluefins. After a few hours of trolling around and not marking any bait we wound them up and headed to the poorman's. Since there was no good sat shots for a few days we were in the blind looking for the warm water. Finally found it around 10:00 am in 1000 fathoms. Nice blue water whales, bait, but the yellowfins were completely absent. Had a few mahi come in then around 1:00 whitey showed up to play. She pulled up to the dredge and grabbed the flat line naked. After a quick strip she dropped that bait and circled around and hit the long rigger. Again ran for a second but couldn't get the steel into her. Oh well it was good to see one anyway. I'll chalk it up to early season jitters.
Fished for a couple more hours and decided to wind it up. On the way in we hit the fog at about the Hot Dog and it never let up until we pulled into the slip. 50 miles of staring at the radar screen will really work on ya! About 12 miles out I get a call on the radio that there is a tornado on the ground in Georgetown and it is headed out way with 80 mph winds and golf ball sized hail. As luck would have it we pulled into the slip, tied up and cleaned up and the storm fizzled out.

Neil -
We were at the Hambone on Saturday also. I heard some calling for the Sundaze but could not hear you answer back so I figured you were moving on... Earl |

We were at the dock when the fog came rolling through, it had to be pretty thick off the beach.
I had to listen to these two sissies who kept complaining about how cold it was without the sun. Apparently, they forgot to bring their flannel lined blouses. ![]() ![]()

Good talking to you out there Neil. I was on the Not Right with Phil. You all beat us that's for sure, oh well nice day for the first trip anyway.
How was the fog from the inlet back to your slip? That had to be a fun ride. |

Fun ride to say the least. Good thing I ran the navigational aids. Hit bottom twice in the middle of the channel. ![]() ![]() Those bouys are soooo screwed up. Maybe I can send a bill to Obama for prop damage!![]() sorry to hear you guys didn't get anything. That water out there looked prime. When we left there were two longliners getting ready to make a set. If only we had a little more time.
