Anyone fish this neck of the woods? Looking to take my 19' boat up there to just fish for big blues with fly rod or light tackle. Never been there, looking for some suggestions on when to go.

I would launch out of Atlantic Highlands and fish in the bay. There have been loads of blues throughout the bay towards Old Orchard and to the west.

I fished right off the Hook last friday and it was non stop bluefish from 4-10 lbs. Also lots of fishermen throwing metal from the beach.

Blues hang around all summer around here.

I just checked the paper, reports of blue & stripers in the back bay, with Fluke reported in the flats. Rhomer Shoals (right of the Hook) has been getting some good action too.


We've had low pressure sitting off the coast better part of the week with a constant NE wind, really churning up the waters... but its clearing out now and should be nice by weekend.
