Got out early today for a scouting mission (one of many so far this year) and found good marks and set the troll spread out. Trolled over great marks without a bite. At this point I started to get a little nervous as on my way to the boat a black cat crossed my path and I tweaked a nerve in my back so this was to be the icing on the cake I thought, then the down rod goes and fish on, little run, fight him from the rod holder and he's boated in a few minutes. nice little fish at 43 inches. Now I need a over fish, its getting late in the am and the bite is over. So I just start to troll all over the place, all of a sudden the rigger line pops but doesnt take drag, I see a bunch of splashing and a nice 30lb class dolphin takes to the sky, cool get him in and on ice and lines back in for the over. at 12:30 the right long pops and starts to run after a brief 10 minute fight a nice 80 lber is on ice and heading for the barn.
It was a nice day of fishing and sometime we need that, other then the people that dont have a clue out there trolling it was a nice day.
Just a heads up when fishing a lump or small area, when there are a bunch of boats fishing a certain style for Bluefin and your not sure of what to do call on the radio or better yet most of the guys are on 71, not 68 or 69 but 71 and a few others. monitor that channel so we can talk to you so that way fish and gear dont get cut off. Its real simple, sometimes all it takes is a 10 degree turn and all is good, or if someone has a fish on we can tell you to turn port or starboard, not a big deal, if we can all do this then it wont be such a cluster fuk out there. The problem comes when we try to call people and they dont respond on any channels gets real old real quick. just a heads up.
