Weds I went pre fishing for the ASA with jimmy and joe on his 33 contender and it was on fire with the big stripers from start to finish. There was a little lull for about 45 minutes when the tide was running full blast and you needed 12 ozs to hold bottom. we went 15 for 22 on the striped ones released all but two that were badly gut hooked. the fish ranges from 20 lbs to 30+ lbs so we felt good about the ASA on saturday.
Friday I had a charter and the fishing took a 180 from weds. the water was warm on the surface but cold on the bottom and it was loaded with silt and grass. we stuck it out till the end of the outgoing when the wind took over the tide and that was that. At the bottom of the tide the fish did bite but it was a fast bit only lasting 5 minutes or so but with that came three nice fish from 20lbs to 32 lbs. The fishing will get better once the bay straitens out which should be in the next day or so with the nice weather approaching for the week. I thank the guys for sticking it out as it was a long day of watching grass grow![]()
Saturday I fished the ASA on jimmys 33 contender again and the fishing was still lousy but we managed 2 fish the first on going 29.4 lbs and was good for first place. there were 20 boats that fished and anly a few were able to make it to the scales. I will upload a few pics from fridays and weds trips soon.
