Riptide bait and Tackle fishing report, Brigantine, 3-6

    6 Mar 2010, 12:30 PM
It's been a looooong winter and I know that cabin fever has been hitting many anglers. Riptide is open full time with hours from 10:00 pm- 4:00 pm until the bite turns on strong, then the hours will go back to regular fishing hours. I just received some of the biggest blood worms I have ever seen and we know the bass are out there starving. I also have frozen salted clams and will start to get the fresh clams in soon. The water temps are still hanging around 39 degrees. I know that Dave has weighed in at least three fish already but I don't know where they have been caught. We need to see the water warm up to 42-43 degree range before they start to get active off the front beach. This weekend they say it is going to be almost 60 and that should start to get the water to warm up. I am starting the Riptide Bounty for the first legal fish caught off the surf. The rules are the same as last year. It must be caught on the FRONT part of the beach in between Wreck inlet and the south end jetty. There will be a 100.00 gift card for the first legal striper that makes it to the shop and you must have a witness. Any questions please feel free to call or e-mail me.
I know that there have been some people spreading rumors around that we are not going to open this year but obviously they were wrong. There is a lot of people that get off by starting trouble and you know how you are. We are open and will be for a very long time so I look forward to seeing everyone and you know I will update the reports as I start to see the fish hit my scale.
Thanks and lets make this a great year.

Riptide bait and Tackle fishing report, Brigantine, 3-16

The wind and rain should be gone by the end of the week and the weather is going to be great fishing weather. The water temps are on the rise and that is going to put the stripers into a feeding frenzy!!!!! We will be getting fresh clams and blood worms and something is telling me that the weekend will be a busy one with some buddy catching the 100.00 bounty fish off the surf of Brigantine. I should be getting my orders of tackle in this week and can't wait to load the place up again. I have been trying to keep myself busy but just like you anglers get cabin fever I have been getting shop fever. I can't wait for the bite to turn on and get the scale ringing outside. I did get a call from Mr striper but he didn't leave a message on my phone, don't think he can text very well with the fins that he has......

    Good Luck

Riptide Bait and Tackle fishing report, Brigantine, 3-22

No stripers yet..... we couldn't have asked for better fishing conditions then we had this weekend. The store was jumping and the bait was flying out the door but did not hear of any fish being caught. I heard from several other places that they were catching but have not had any on my scale. I did receive a call from Mr Striper and he told me that they hit some construction on their travels up North which slowed them down a bit but told me don't get worried, they will be here soon and also wanted me to tell the anglers that they are STARVING for some rotters. We still have the 100.00 Riptide Bounty out there for the first legal striper caught off the front surf of Brigantine. We will be starting the Fish for Life Tournament soon that will allow you to run the entire beach but please remember that as of now you CAN NOT and I repeat CAN NOT drive the front part of the beach until that tournament is started and you get the tag for it. Any questions about that please call the shop and we will explain to you. The rain has stopped today and the sun was trying to makes its way out past the clouds. Lets see what the next couple of days brings us and hopefully I will be posting a picture of a striper on the site soon. We did receive a lot of new inventory including the new Penn Conquer and the new Shimano bait runners along with the Tica Dolphin Tc3 rods. Stop in and take a look at them.

    Thanks and good luck

Scott Robins of Brigantine just weighed in a 38.5" 19.5 pound striper to collect the 100.00 Riptide Bounty. Scott caught it on a Riptide Rotter and was not out there more then an hour before landing this fish. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!!! Congrats Scott!!!

Riptide bait and Tackle fishing report, Brigantine, 3-30

    30 Mar 2010, 1:43 PM

Just want to let you know that we just received our clams in today and also have blood worms to go along with all the frozen bait that you need. Mon and Tue have been ugly but starting tomorrow the weather looks like it will be getting better and setting us up for a perfect striper weekend. They are crushing them them down in the DB so we should be seeing them on our beaches pretty soon. Scott Robins (the angler with the first fish) called me yesterday to let me know that along with the 19.5 pounder he also had a 30" striper to go along with the first one. That was pretty much it so far but it should be breaking open any day. The Fish for Life Tournament is going on and will continue until the 15th of May. The shop hours will continue to stay the same until the fish force me to stay open longer and I hope that is soon.

    Thanks and good luck

Fred just called me and told me that he had 12 fish up to 22 pounds anchored in the Delaware river at some unknown point. He decided to take the fresh shucked Rotters and was very pleased as he and Tim out fished most of the boats around them. he said it hurts to through back 38 inch fish but they limited out early and had no choice. It's nice to have a problem like that I am getting 20 bushels of clams in tomorrow and it looks like it will be a perfect weekend to catch a fish. Fred wanted me to tell Hooker "thanks for the info". He says it saved them a lot of traveling time and said that he really appreciated it and also said that it was a pleasure to meet you at the ramp.

    Thanks and Good Luck

Fat 20 pounder by the seawall

Dave Colasurdo and his buddies were fishing just North of the seawall and it took all three of these guys to nail this fat 36" 20 pounder. Another slow day with a lot of time in between fish and its just a matter of time.........

Joe Nield of Hammonton just weighed in the first striper of the day. He was all the way up at the North end and said that the wind was blowing down the beach but he was able to find a place out of the wind and nailed an 11 pounder. It has been pretty slow fishing the past couple of days. I had two weigh-ins yesterday and know of about 4 fish that were caught. Maybe this is the start of the next school of fish that we are waiting for????
Last night the bite turned on. Seems the nighttime is getting hot.
There is no real pattern to the striper bite right now. it is hit and miss as schools come through.

    Thanks

Riptide bait and Tackle fishing report, Brigantine, 4-24

We had a great day on the Brigantine surf on Friday. The 33 pound striper was the big fish but we also had 18 pounder and 16 pounder stripers and a 9 pound bluefish to top the scales yesterday. We know that we had a bass and blues up and down the beach but I have yet to hear of any drum fish but they are usually on the move at night. Mr Smith has been working on overtime trying to keep the store stocked with bunker but with the winds pounding at his boat it has been tough. He made two trips yesterday to try and keep up with the demand but we were still out by the beginning of the afternoon. He is out there now and I will post when and if he gets it in.

    Thanks and Good Luck
