KENT ISLAND — The latest discovery of poachers’ fishing nets on Friday night yielded nearly two more tons of rockfish, Maryland Natural Resources Police said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The two 900-yard strings of nets contained 3,879 pounds of rockfish.
The nets were gill nets illegally anchored in the water — one about a mile south of Bloody Point Lighthouse near the southern tip of Kent Island, and the other about 2 1/2 miles northeast of the lighthouse.

As with the other 10 tons of illegal fish found by police in recent weeks, the fish were sold to seafood wholesalers.

The Natural Resources Police continue to ask for help in identifying poachers. A reward fund is up to $20,000. Tips can be submitted to the state Catch-a-Poacher hotline at 1-800-635-6124.
