Our schedule is filling up so call me asap to reserve some fishing days. The bite is December and January, we're fishing out of Morehead City, NC
Dont be left out of this great chance to catch a 500+ lb fish within sight of the beach in 70 feet of water.
We start our troll in the dark leaving dock at 400-430, how far back are our long rigger lines, dont know cant see 'em. We have Shimano 130's and 80's with 250# mono and 100 ft topshot of 280#flourocarbon. We fish only 5 lines. 4 up and 1 down. Only horse ballyhoo for baits, mostly ***** but last year blue and white Ilanders were money. The fights normally are 1 hour plus or minus 30 minutes. With 80 lbs of drag it is a fight. When the fish get to the boat they are beat. We hoist them over the side with a block and tackle and lay fish on a twin mattress to reduce stress on the fish. Immediately remove guts and pack with ice, then wrap with tarp and enclose in ice. Right now the limit is 3 per day/boat.
The fishing usually wraps up by noon, so we're back at the dock early afternoon. The cabin is heated and we have a microwave oven to heat meals.
