    Reflecting on Hoopers Island

I made an unexpected trip back to MD last week, and after a tough week, I had to get down to the Island to just unwind and reflect on the weeks events. My Uncle and I headed down to Hoopers Island Friday evening to try our luck fishing from the shores of the Swan Island Gunning Club. Armed with a couple rods and a half dozen peelers we slogged through the marsh to see if we could score some Stripers.

This was my 1st boat in '87...she had been on the hard since I departed for the Air Force and this is where Isabell deposited her in '03

Big thanks to my buddy Chris Hessert from http://www.manhattanfly.com/ for providing one of the sweetest fishing shirts around.

Since I wasn't sure when I'd get back down, I ran down again Sunday night to try my luck. Eddie and I caught quite a few, mostly undersized Trout, Spot, Bluefish and Stripers. My dad stopped by to give me a little encouragement.

Right before quitting time, I was able to convince this nice 24" Striper to join us for dinner.

GREAT picture report. I have featured it on the front page. The picture quality isn't as important as what it represents/shows. Nice striper

Seems like every time I'm able to get ahead and start planning a fun/fishing trip back east, something comes up. The circumstances surrounding this trip were not conducive or appropriate for any serious fishing adventures, but, be assured I have you, Chris, Vinnie, Fred, Lee and a host of others on my speed dial and will be taking you all up on your generous offers.

I realize there isn't much salt water in Oklahoma, but seems like you've got the saltwater stripers figured out...

Like I told Lee...it took a trip to MD for me to re-learn the fine art of actually "catching."
