    Raritan Bay winter flunnders 3-30-08

Got a late start on purpose with Mike aka LAB, and Jimmy the River Rat, as the outgoing has been very good to us and up until yesterday we had caught very few fish on the incoming... but the last 2 days have been totally different....we had a somewhat steady pick through out the late morning early afternoon with big bay flunnders caught both on plain clam, plain worm and ham and eggs..... Rat was on fire early and most def got puller of the day award.... I get the jackass of the day award by bouncing my cell phone off the gunnel and into the drink....... And my Lab well he was the comic relief as usual..... 14 ft....47 degrees

We finished up the day with 28 NICE flunndies in the livewell with 2 shorts, numerous misses and a few boat swingers that didnt make it over the rail....

Got to see Fudd and Pinky, Capt Charm and his crew... was even buzzed twice by a super stud striper expert ......

Outstanding fishing there Mr. Freeballin. I had no idea your winter flatfish fishing could be this productive. Looks like great fun and great eats!
Do you guys drift or fish structure for these fish? Do you catch any thing else in water that cold while flounder fishing?
    Thanks for the post.

Nice Free. I have crapped out in the Absecon Inlet area on Winter Flounder the last week or so. What are you using if you don't mind me asking.

These are winter flounder... we mainly anchor in the mud flats or mussel beds this time of year.... structure no big deal... as may approaches we follow them out of the bay into the Atlantic right along the beach here at Sandy Hook to an area known as the CEDARS which is actually clam beds ....not unusual to C&R a few short stripers with all the chum in the water and clam strips and or sand worms for bait.....Which answers Carls question.
