PoorGirls Open 8/20 on Bill$ 4 Bills

We headed out at 6:00am Saturday to fish the Poor Girls Open with three female anglers on board. Our original plan was to go to the Poor Mans Canyon and try for billfish. With the weather conditions and the seas I didn’t think we would have much of a chance to run that far and top Capt. Frank Pettolina and Capt. Franky Pettolina on The Last Call with 4 white releases, great job Frank and Franky. So we decided to run to the Middle Sausage where in previous days we picked up a few tuna. We got the lines in the water around 8:30 and started trolling east towards the Poor Mans. At 9:00am we were dead on top of the Middle Sausages had two big tuna hit our baits, a blue and white islander and a blue and white sea witch. One tuna was lost within the first few minutes. The second one stayed hooked and wouldn’t you know it was on the smallest rod that we had out, a Penn 30 single speed. Due to the size of the tuna and the size of the rod, it took almost 5 hours to boat the tuna. We headed back to Bahia Marina to the weigh in scale and took 2nd place in the tournament. Chili (Travis) did one heck of a job in the pit with his patience and instructions to the girls. My hats off to Chili and his great work in the c**kpit

Nice work......saw you at the dinner..the girls from my family were onboard Barbed Wire. I won't go into details, a little tired-was just at the MA500 all day and a busy day business wise for me for the entire week.
Anyhoo....my brothers girlfriend roped in her first whitey....she was quite happy. The ladies also boated 3 50lb YFT.
I must add the food was top notch at the dinner---i enjoyed it, and lots of it.
