Pells Fish and sport report 10-13 Brick

We are starting to get a good taste of what the fall has to offer; starting off with the bass report, we have had steady weigh ins from the beach and from the boats. This week we had pretty good fishing early in the morning; guys headed both north, and south, and came home with fish. Weakfish were stacked up and feeding heavily on both rainfish and sand eels. They were not too tough to find, if you ran into birds picking away at the surface, you also ran into the weakfish. For the most part the fish were small, but there were several nice fish in the mix. Bluefish made a showing in numbers, the jersey giants were loaded with bunker and smacked just about anything. Customers jigged them with our imitation krock spoons, diamond jigs, and sport fish's new sand eel diamond jigs (they are a must see)! They were also trolled with shad umbrellas, and sport fish sand eel, and tube umbrella rigs. We were also surprised this week by some exceptionally big striped bass. The fish were caught on the troll and on jigs. They were LOADED with huge sand eels. We had fish to 29lbs weighed in at the shop.

The fishing on the beach is progressively getting better as the days go on. Locally, people are picking at fish on artificals rigged with a teaser. And the bait guys are starting to do a number on them with clams. The fishing up north in the sea bright area is very consistent; many guys are fishing the jetties and catching 4-6 fish a night on needle fish, and bombers. A few bluefish were caught on mullet and small metals. We should start to see some more consistent action on the beach within the next few weeks. Halloween to Thanksgiving is always the peak of our fall fishing.

The canal and the end of the inlet, by the rocks, have both been jammed with blackfish. Guys have been going through dozens of green crabs and coming home with their 14'' fish almost every trip. Toggin has been getting better due to a drop in water temperature, they are feeding heavy and getting ready to make their departure to our local wrecks.

The shop is fully stocked with sportfish's line of jigs and umbrella rigs. Guys have been drooling over their new jigs and their umbrella rigs. They came out with some new colors including olive, dark green, and purple over white. We got in a bunch of replacement tubes and hooks for ava jigs in all colors. The store is loaded with teaser rigs, we brought in 16 different colored deceivers, and we have about a dozen different colored sportfish sand eel teaser rigs.

So swing by the shop and check out some of the new items we brought in. The fishing is really starting to come alive; many of us are anxiously awaiting to see what this fall has to offer us. And by the looks of things already, it should be another awesome year for us! Tight lines, and screaming drags
