Fishing Report by Sue Foster

Water Temperature (WTMP): 48.7 °F

Easter Weekend was cold on the coast! The wind blew right off the ocean all
day on Saturday. Finally on Sunday it warmed up and the water temperature
rose a few degrees. We didn't hear a whole lot of fishing stories from
inshore Ocean City. We did hear that tautog fishing was good offshore. Only
a few small ones were reported from Ocean City Inlet. A few stripers were
caught at Indian River Inlet and just offshore. Skates and some dog sharks
showed up in the surf.

I had a ton of questions this weekend about the 2010 New Federal Law that
requires anglers 16 and older to register to fish. It is not a fishing
license and it does not cost a cent. It is totally free. Maryland will NOT
have a fishing license until 2011. Simply call or go on the web to get your
FIN (Fisherman's Identification Number) number. Print or write the number
down and keep it with you when you go fishing. All they ask for is your
name, address and phone number. We all have to register so the government
can get a better count on the fish so maybe the flounder, sea bass, and
other fish will have more reasonable size, creel and seasons in the future.
