Over Under Adventures - last 3 Overnights
We ran an open boat trip on THATS RIGHT wed into thurs and had another good night on the edge. The group did a great job capitalizing on their bites, hink coming back with about 12 tuna and another 6 or so fought and lost. Real nice fish again, 60-80 pounds. Best bite was from 5am on, when they were hand feeding them off the transome.
Then back out with both LOW PROFILE and THATS RIGHT on Thursday into Friday, the troll was slow. We had 2 bites that didn't come tight before dark on LP, but that was about it. On the chunk, it was a mixed night. There was a lot of traffic out there Thurs. night, so we moved pretty far to the south of most of the boats and set up, right next to a couple of other like minded boats we know. LP anchored and TR drifted since it was another very calm night. We got em going about 10pm on LP and boated 8 fish real quick before loosing the school about 11:30. The boats, less than 1/4 mile away never had a bite that whole time...very strange. Anyway, we felt very fortunate. LP went on to battle a 62" swordfish for 2+ hours (on 50# leader) from midnight to 2am, before finally sinking the gaff, the we had another pick of tuna, before a nice morning bite, catching a total of 12, with many more fought and lost. Thats Right managed 2 of 3 bites overnight, as it sounded most boats out there did, then had a nice 400# bluemarlin up in the spread early on the troll, but couldn't get her hooked up. We pulled the plug on last nights trips as no one wanted to risk putting everyone through a very long and uncomfortable head sea ride home this morning...looks like we'll be starting over again when the weather clears probably sometime in the middle of next week ![]()
