Over Under Adventures - 1st o/n, yellowfin, bluefin, and bonus BLUE MARLIN
All our Ocean City Charter Boats were back out today. JUSTIFIED turned back around yesterday afternoon and went back for our first Overnight Tuna Charter of the year. Captain John on Pretty Work was the first to call in his report today, having a bit better day then yesterday. He said they fished further south today than yesterday and that the water had turned green once again. Pretty Work put 5 Yellowfin in the boat today, 3 in the 50-60 pound class and 2 in the 70-80 pound class. He said the Bluefin Tuna bite sounded slow in on the Hambone and that there was green water in the Washington Canyon. Capt. Todd on the Justified reported in shortly after John this afternoon and said he released a small mako and then bagged 2 Tuna around 2am on the chunk. Between 4 and 6 am they had a flurry, putting 5 more yellowfin in the boat, then up on the troll, added another couple for a total of 9 Yellowfin for the first Overnight Chunking trip of the season. Capt. DJ who had the hot hand yesterday on THATS RIGHT managed to put 4 yellowfin in the boat today, trolling around 50fathoms in the South Poormans. Bites were on Ballyhoo and Spreader Bars once again.
Up in New Jersey, Joe and Anthony called in after fishing the first day of the Jersey Shore Classic on the LOW PROFILE. They started off on the chunk, going 4-6 on fish measuring 46, 48 and 50 inches. That was all before 7:00am...So offshore they ran looking for some Dolphin and Yellowfin to add to the box. They found all the peanut dolphin you wanted, but none big enough to help their cause. They also said they had about half a dozen yellowfin bites on the spreader bars and finally held onto a nice 50# fish. The highlight of the day was yet to come though, when they hooked into a nice Blue Marlin. Two hours later they released her, and estimated her weight at a bit over 500#. That won't do anything for in the Tournament, but what a day....
