Outstanding chunk bite continues for the Risky Business w/pics to 50 pounds!!!
Saturday:
we had the Brian cook party out fishing the high tides striper tournament. I dropped the hook on my first spot in hopes of some nice fish but it only produced small fish in the 20 pound range after catching 6 fish all cookie cutter fish we made a move to another location. That location was holding bigger fish up to 30 pounds but nothing that was tournament worthy. we had steady action at the second location and the guys had fun with the fish with the biggest going 30 pounds. All in all it was a great day and a great tournament.
Sunday:
I had Mike Bogner, his son and girlfriend along with ron and his group of two. Ron and his group ave been going on charter boats for the last four years for stripers and received the skunk on every trip, so the pressure was on. Once we dropped anchor at a new spot I was trying we had a nibble that looked sharky but the way these stripers have been biting lately I let it go. after fifteen minutes or so we had our first real bite and another back to back but that was it so I made a move and once set up the waves of fish were coming every five to ten minutes and it was game on. everyone caught their limit with C&R after the 12th fish. Ron and his people broke the 4 year curse.
Tuesday:
I had Ken and his people out for Kens Birthday striper trip. It was a good trip getting into the fish right away but they were small so I made a move to look for some bigger fish found some great marks and dropped the hook. had a hit after some time but with the marks I had it should be going off. so I pulled the hook again and made a little wiggle and had great marks again, once the baits were in the water the JPR helloweenie rod starts to bend over and game on fish makes a nice run and pinky fights this thing to the boat. Once its to the boat it takes off again and again and again, finally we barley get it into the net and this monster hits the deck it taped out at 50 inches with a 30 inch girth putting her over the fifty pound mark. way to go pinky!!! although not the birthday boy he got a great present that day. After that fish we had steady action till the turn of the tide then on the outgoing we had a few more and came home.
The fishing has been stellar so far this year with bigger fish moving down the beach so I expect this season to be longer or at least last well into the end of november for the chunking and I predict the fishing in the rips to go to the end of December and into January.
Pics to follow as soon as I get them.
