ORTLEY BEACH NJ BEACH REPORT

Well i am so tired of having cabin fever since the tuners are no where to be found and wasting my time i decided it is time slap the big ol' rack on the rear of the gmc and stack up the rods and the cooler and hit the beach front..

it was a beautiful night, kissed the pregnant wife bye and off i went into the local tackle shop.. bought some clammers, rigged up some stuff in the parking lot, shot the chit a little with some buddies and off i went to ortley..

didnt feel like driving on the beach because iw as way to lazy to refill the tires so i decided to park the truck as my favorite spot and take a short walk down the board..

i got to my spot and i can say it was nothing but beautiful.. i mean i felt like i was in heaven.. i put the stake in the sand and the rod in the holder.. baited that baby up and gave it a good sling out there....

it was so nice i had to step back and take a few pics...

talk about a beautiful site...

as soon as i took these pictures wap wap wap wap wap.. the rod start bouncing and those gamakatsu circles really stick every single time..

i began to reel reel reel in excitement being my first fish of the fall season off the beach without a care in the world to what the hell was yanking on the other end of the line..

well it was nothing spectacular but a nice little sea robin to start the night...

i dehooked it with care and placed it back into the water to live and terroris someone else...

i cracked myself another clammer and sling the fishfinder rig back out into never never land..

2 seconds later wap wap wap wap wap there goes the damn rod again..

pick it up and reel in the slack to set the circle.. fish on!!! about 30 seconds later here comes the big dog.. lol

after a nice clean release the little sharky was off to swim another day..

i hung out for about another hour into dark and proceeded to catch another half a dozen sand shark (smooth skin doggies) and had missed two really nice run offs.. one was def. a nice striper as it had me up and down the beach for a while and then someone broke the line which i dont know who it happened but someone it broke.. who the heck knows... but missed that and the second big hit seemed like a big shark but it came unbuttoned in the wash after about 2 minutes of fighting it..

it is dark now and some more little sharks come in but thats about it...

it was a good night over all and it felt good to just get a tug on the other end of a line.. will be back out tonight and ready to rumble.. hope you enjoyed this long story and i hope the stripers come in big time this year!!

Nice vinny, sometimes its just nice to get out and do an easy outing. If i was closer to the salt i would be out there all the time....90% of my freshwater fishing is done under the cover of darkness....nothing like watching the sun set when your just getting set up...just as the sunrise is tha dawn of a new day...the sun set is the start of some dam good fishing.

That is one of my favorite things to do... surf fishing at dusk. Its so peaceful, doesn't really matter what you catch...

I'll be down that way in few weeks, my buddy has a house on the beach in Ocean Beach.

Look forward to more reports...

When you get the truck set up, take a ride up to the OB3/ Chadwick border (~ behind Lasola's/ Capt Al's Tackle shop on 35N).
There use to be a nice hole and a trough running south in front of the pink house with the terracotta roof. My buddy said it shifted south about 50 yards this year. We haven't taken a look since the last storm (Hanna), so the landscape may have changed a little bit. I'll let you know when I'm heading down.
