The worms are lookin pretty well at the end of the road so I started soaking a few right off the boat and around tge pilings. Doink! Baby sea bass followed by a couple porgies then even a small tog... Then doink again... This time a southern kingfish. No not king mackerel, one of those whiting cousin kingfishes... Ok its not the catch of the century but it was something I havn't caught since I was a kid. It doesn't have to be epic to remind me of what fun even little fish can be. Something different like that keeps the fun in even the most mundane styles of fishing...

Always nice to catch something!
I'm in the same area as you, Rumson guy myself, it's always nice to be able to fish in the rivers when its too rough on the outside. Hoping to get out at the end of the week and chase some albies down the beach. |

Very cool. So great to catch something else. We used to get the juveniles in the seine nets from time to time. The larger ones hang off the local beaches, but I don't think I've caught one in all these years.
Nice job! |

Catch some more of those kingfish(a.k.a sea mullet down here) and fry them up. Very good fish to eat. You won't be disappointed.
