Old Inlet Bait and Tackle report 12-1
Big blues are on the beach!!
Bluefish up to 33 inches hit the beach over the weekend. There were also some stripers up to 30 inches in the mix. We received multiple reports of blues hitting cut bunker and mullet from Tower Road south to North Bethany Beach.
West winds have pushed the tide out making a very wide beach. It is interesting to see the new holes that Ida formed during the storm.
A lot of people are asking about the red buoy that has washed up just north of the Inlet. No official word, but it is not from the Indian River Inlet. It is likely from the Cape May side. Looks like a Sea Buoy marking the entrance to an Inlet.
Improving striper bite in the Indian River Inlet. The middle of the Inlet is loaded with small fish according to the boaters. The rock jockeys have been hitting a few as well, mostly shorts on the incoming tide on bucktails. Try using a yellow worm when the water is a bit dirty from the west winds we are experiencing.
Some of the big blues on the beach are coming into the Inlet on the tide as well. Had a report of some on the troll along the beach too.
Several boats have gone down the beach looking for striped bass on the troll just inside the 3 mile limit on the Fenwick Shoals.
Good tautog fishing in the Indian River Inlet. Live green crabs are available.
