Old Inlet bait and tackle 6-29
Fourth of July Week! My how the summer is flying by.
Big news is that Tautog season reopens in Delaware waters Thursday July 1. We plan to have plenty of live green crabs and sand fleas in stock.
Have had some stinkin hot days lately. The best fishing for stripers is at night in the Indian River Inlet. Heat and boat traffic drive the fish down during the day. There are few short stripers hitting during the day when we get an easterly breeze.
The night fishing has been good on live eels, black bucktails and dark plugs/poppers.
The lastest stripers on the scales -
26lbs, John Miller, Boiling Springs, PA, IR Inlet 24lbs 15oz, Kagan Eckley, Bellafonte, PA, IR Inlet 24lbs 14oz, Wesley Henne, Bernville, PA, IR Inlet 21lbs 12oz, Lenny Gettle, Richland, PA, IR Inlet
There are some bluefish to be found in the Inlet on the daytime incoming tides.
Seabass fishing is picking up on the Old Grounds. There are some flounder and ling cod in the mix as well.
Surf fishing could benefit from some east wind. To much west wind lately has kept dirty water on the beach. When the wind is right there are some kings and sand perch in the suds. Live bloodworms have been the most productive bait.
