Ocean Explorer Fishing report, Belmar 3-15
Daily Fishing Report From Captain Bobby Quinn
3-14-11 The ocean was very nice today.Flat calm seas all day and no ground swell. We had a good size gang of regulars come down to take advantage of the nice conditions.A few faces I have not seen before either. The fish were in the mood this morning to feed and we had fish as soon as we came tight on the anchor.Today different from yesterday the bow crushed the fish and the stern for a while this morning watched as guys were pulling on fish non-stop.A few fish around the back half of the boat but mostly a bow bite, even had the anchor pop on me and repositioned up more but still the bow had the best of it.Eventually the whole boat was in the game and we banged away most of the morning.By afternoon they stopped biting all together and got skiddish.I would look around and find a nice pile of them but they would take off as soon as I anchored on them. You can see one of these piles in the picture below. We had to start dropping directly on a reading to get a few to bite.Only way they would chew.It gave a few guys who did not catch any a shot to get one and it worked.Even had one nice double header keeper for one customer. At the end we had a nice catch of fish around the boat for a big crowd.High hooks had 6-7 keepers and plenty of shorts. Some had 4-5,some 2-3,and I think only a few had the skunk. My camera went overboard yesterday so my pictures lack a little luster.Tomorrow is looking nice again with light winds all nite into tomorrow afternoon.See ya in the morning.

Haystack of Cod on the bottom.

Lenny broke his curse today with four keepers.

First keeper!!!
3-13-11 Made it out and had decent ocean conditions.Started out on some open bottom and picked at a few fish early, not good though and had quite a crowd around us so we went back out deep and had a strong tide running up against the wind but the fish were chewing.Ended up picking away at both keeper fish and throwbacks for most of the day on a few drops.Sixteen ounces of lead was a must with the current running the way it was.In the end some guys ended up well with high hooks having four keeper cods, some three, some two,one and none, and you know the rest.Again a decent showing of throwback cod also.Overall a good day,the back of the boat had the better shot at em today due to the way the current was running.Tomorrrow is looking good, see you in the morning.Check out some pics.

Sam and Kimmy had a real nice day with seven keeper between em and maybe a dozen throwbacks.

You know the Cod King!!

Ye old fishing club represenative

Gonna be a good pool weigh in.

Mikey even had a couple of keepers in between naps.
3-12-11 Back out after a couple of days off, ocean was decent to start.Got a bit nasty on the way home but overall ok.Got to the grounds and picked at a few fish, nothing great just a pick.Stayed that way most of the day, moved around a bit and tried some different stuff and caught some fish everywhere we tried. At the end some guys had two keeper cod, some had one,and some had none. Some short fish mixed in.Lots of current the second half of the day,and a gusty south wind but tomorrow is looking much better. The west wind tonite should clean it up nice.Pool fish about 8lbs.Check out some pics.

Nice pair!!!

A nice Jersey Cod.

Congrats on your first keeper Cod.
