Ocean City NJ report 6-19
Fished this week behind Ocean City. In the channnel behind 17th st , I had about 15 throwbacks in an hour on the outgoing tide.
I fished the south side of the Rainbow Channel bridge the next day. 1 hour incoming and 1 outgoing tide. I had 15-20 throwbacks.
The next day I drifted Rainbow again on the incoming tide and had very little action. we did get on 2 lb bluefish which I had for lunch that afternoon. He took a minnow -squid combination. I moved to Somers Point and fished 2 hours off Kennedy park on the outgoing tide. We had a ton of throwbacks.
Thurday we tried to fish Rainbow again but the wind was blowing so hard across there I couldn't get a good drift. I didn't want to mess with a sea anchor so we moved to Somers Point. We fished starting behind Pier 4. The tide had just started moving out. The wind was mostly blocked by the land there. We had an odd drift,- out toward the middle and slightly toward the bridge Crossing the channel the drift changed to slightly away from the bridge and still across the channel. we picked up 1 keeper 19 inches by the first green buoy in 18 feet of water. We had 40-50 throwbacks in 3 hours.
the hot bait was 3" Gulp swimming mullet in Chartreuse. The keeper took a 3' newpenny shrimp on the top hook. Gulp outfished minnows by about 4-1.
