oc fishing report
on boat was me, jake emche(jemche), jim emche, and gunner zorn. we were fishing on gunner's boat "gundawg".
the plan was to go to russel's reef and go taug fishing. they have been burning them their recently. we are close to our mark and we see some birds flying but not diving. we look at the bottom machine and see some nice marks. start jigging and get hooked up right away. we caught 10 fish right away. we thought it was over because the birds just started to spread out, kept drifting and we found another school. this drift lasted for about a half mile resulting in 15-20 fish. the marks stopped coming up on the machine and we decided to go taug fishing since we were near our taug spot. the second we said that bottom machine lit up again. caught 15-20 more fish.
totallost count) between 30-45.
size:5 under 28 inches. most fish were between 32 and 35 in. had 5-10 up to 38in. some fish were really really fat. biggest were around 18-19 lbs.
tackle: jiggin big diamond jigs worked the best. casting bucktails and reeling them in slow worked decent.
best rockfish trip of year
....maybe we sould go taug fishing all the time

What a great day. I'm jealous. I wimped out because I thought it was going to be too rough. Hope they hold out for a little longer. Could you keep any?
