OC FISHING REPORT 12/9
WENT OUT TO FIRST LUMP TODAY. ON THE BOAT WAS MY DAD, BRAD REGAN, BILLY REGAN, AND BOZ JEFFERSON. A FEW SCATTERED BIRDS WERE WORKING BUT NOT MUCH. WE STARTED TROLLING AROUND TO FIND THEM. WE NEVER DID REALLY FIND THE BIRDS BUT THERE WAS SOME GREAT MARKS ON THE MACHINE. ONCE WE MARKED THEM WE WOULD CAST BUCKTAILS AND JIG JIGGING SPOON, AND I WAS CASTING THE LONG ROD. WE ENDED UP CATCHING A TOTAL OF 23 ROCK-24 INCHES TO 33 INCHES. AND 11 BLUEFISH THAT WERE ALL OVER 6 POUNDS.
I CAUGHT 2 ROCKS ON THE FLY. I ALSO GOT MY DAD INTO SALTWATER FLY FISHING. HE CAUGHT A NICE 14 LB. ROCK.... I THINK HE IS ADDICTED! I GOT MY FRIEND BRAD INTO FLYFISHING TO. HE HOOKED A NICE BLUEFISH AND HAD IT ON FOR A FEW MINS BUT THE HOOK CAME OUT. HE TOLD HIS DAD HE WANTED A FLYROD FOR X-MAS! ALL FISH WERE CAUGHT ON ON ME AWESOME NEW FIN-NOR REAL W/ MY NEW 250 GRAIN SINKING LINE. THE FLY WAS A SMALL ORANGE, BLUE, AND GREEN CLOUSER. I BECAME THE CAMERA GUY AFTER I CAUGHT A FEW BUT ON THE FLY YOU COULD CATCH A LOT BECAUSE THE BAIT WAS SMALL... IT WAS AN AWESOME DAY! BOTTOM MACHINE... YES ITS ALL FISH! HERE IS A PIC OF ME AND A ROCK MY DAD W/ A NICE 14 LB. ROCK! FIRST SALTWATER FISH ON THE FLY! BRAD W/ A NICE ROCK! BILLY W/ BIG ROCK BOZ WITH HIS LUCKY HAT MY DAD W/ SOME CRAZY MASK BEFORE WE LEFT.... WHAT A GREAT DAY!

Beautiful fish, you guys really had a great day with nice size fish. I need some lumps close inshore here in Cape May. Our cloest ones are 8 to 12 miles off the beach which is a little far this time of year in a small boat.
Glad someone is enjoying nice fish on the fly. Keep the reports coming. Love the pictures too.

Jake that is awesome buddy....
I'm glad I didn't sell that reel to some doofus on EBAY. You are putting it to good use. That's all I ever wanted. Remember Feb 16th... TieFest.. bring the entire gang bud.

Billy Regan Sighting??
Nice job on the stripers....even more impressive that you educated those two elders on how it should be done.
Fished in the Tangier sound this afternoon and found plenty bait but only short fish. Not much current. Will try again after the blow. |
