Obsession Fishing Special Guests 11-21-11 STRIPERS
We had a fascinating trip today hosted by James MacKnight of River & Glenn LLC, Provider of a wide selection of Gourmet Food Products for discerning Chefs everywhere. His Guests Included His customer and Executive Chef of the Avenue Restaurant in Long Branch New Jersey, Dominique Filoni, His Sous-Chef Josh, and The Publicist for the Avenue Restaurant Peter Breslow along with Restaurant and food critic for the Star Ledger, Theresa Politano. The trip was twofold it was for James to show some appreciation for his good customer Dominique’s business and for the publicist to film the day to show him tracking the food from the source to the table, interesting concept. The video will follow. Theresa also came along on her first fishing trip to capture the day as well, which will be in her column of the Star Ledger this December. (NO Pressure RIGHT?)
I told Kenny no doubt, it would be an interesting day and off we went! James had been fishing with us before and Josh had also been fishing before. I believe it was the first time for Dominique, Peter and Theresa. As we turned out of the inlet I headed north east towards the area the fish had been showing up each morning, after a while we started seeing signs of life and a few readings on the fish finder. We had to deal with a little rain in the morning, but no one seemed to mind. Our first stop Josh hooked up right away it was a bluefish, not exactly what we were after however it got everyone ready for what was to come. We had to move in closer to the beach as we got into about 35 feet of water we found a massive bird play and got into the stripers we worked the schools of stripers for the next several hours and the fishing did not disappoint, everyone caught fish. There were a few firsts on the boat today fun to see! Dominique did a great job on his first Striper and the look on Theresa’s face when she hooked her first fish on live bait was priceless. Josh had a hot hand and James was right in there as well. They all did a great job getting the fish to the boat. At 11am jigging slowed down a little then we went on the troll and couldn’t get more than one line in the water, we kept getting a bite as soon as the first rod was set. The troll bite was Hot! Now the North East wind was starting to kick a little and we decided to go in.
We boated 26 Stripers and released 12 along with six Blues keeping 4. The day turned out very well we got to see Striper fishing at its best WHEW! The fish cooperated!
I can’t help feeling very fortunate to be able to share a great fishing experience with new customers. You get to meet and spend quality time with some of the most interesting people in this business.
