    NORWAY COD/HALIBUT ETC.

    HI:
Got back from NORWAY fishing the FIORDS. Tookl my jigging rod(old style) and lots of CHROME BALL BAIT RIGS ...aka...FLUKE (Summer Flounder) RIGS.
    Used 'em all.
What a wild feeling to be 20 feet from the side of a 200 foot high Fiord and be fishing in 100-200 foot DEPTHS for COD/ Halibut! ....WWWOOOWWW.
WARNING...WARNING...WARNING... SSSLLLOOOWWW does it on the jigs. I used the Japanese style and the fast jigging didn't work that well. SSSLLLOOWW it down and YYYOOOWWWZZZAAA!!!. Dropped down with eth NORWEGIAN PIRKS (JIGS) and they worked well too. I could NOT really test them out(Japanese style) as I was there only for 10 days.
WARNING...WARNING...WARNING...EEVVEERRYYTTHHIINNGG costs MEGA BUCKS. $7.00 US for a gallon of gas!!!!! the KRONER exchange was 6 NOK to 1 US dollar. 6.00 for a small hamburger. 6.00 for a beer. AAARRRGGGHHH.
HINT...HINT...HINT... Go North if you want GIANT CODZILLA's and HALIBUT.
    North of TRONDHEIM .
HINT...HINT...HINT... Use the B&B's all over NORWAY. Most will offer you a boat(14-16 feet) o/b and gass if you stay with them. DO it!
STAVENGER has a HOTEL called the HUMMERIN just o/side of town. Roar SANDOVAL runs it and has two SOLID boats to vahrter. Do it. I di and was HAPPY THAT I DID. ROAR is a FISHERMAN. He know what it's all about and will go out of his way to get you into fish, all day long.
LOOK GUYS, I get nothing for telling you about ROARS setup , EXCEPT, that I know you'll get fish. I did. HINT....HINT...HINT.... USE PINK COLORS on your line! SORRY ABOUT THAT ROAR !
If you fish with a Fly road, bait caster, spinning rod, BRINg 'em. I did and I caught COD on a FLY ROD. Crazy? U bet.
WARNING...WARNING...WARNING... If you fly to a EU country, U CANNOT BRING MORE THAN 1 BAG in the AIRLINE HOLD! YEAH, ONE(1) BAG. WHY? Don't know.
Send your fishing gear via UPS/FED-EX or whatever. I did.
@ HEAHROW (LHR) I watched a group of fisherman tryng to decide on what to LEAVE BEHIND.OUCH. Their agent didn't tell them about the one(1) bag rule.MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
Before you go, look at the irline your lflying and PRINT OUT the RULES and BRING that with you. The airport baggage people just don't keep up with the rules. SIZE ALSO MATTERS. GET THAT PRINTED OUT TOO.
I fly BRITISH AIRWAYS and AMERICAN. I do the above and haven't had a problem with the, OTHER AIRLINES SCREWED ME.
Back to HEATHROW(LHR). I went over to the group and TOLD THEM about the LEFT LUGGAGE area. Better to spend a British POUND a day then throw stuff out!
Since the bombings, I don't know if that area is still available. GOOGLE HEAHROW AIRPORT or send your gear via UPS/FED-EX.
Oh, ythe deepest I fished was 400+ feet , about 40 feet from the side of the FIORDS. Didn't matter, all the ledges next to the FIORD WALLS had fish. Went back inside in 50 feet and caught fish.
ROAR in STAVENGER will keep you on fish from 50 feet to 100+. BRING LOTS OF CAMERS FILM.
    WACKM 'N STACKM

    PICTURES? ...NAW

    HI:
SWMBO takes all the pictures. She hates fish, so she doesnt go out much with me when I go fishing. She likes touring . OH well.
Being an old , now ex commercial, the only pictures I ever wanted to see was the ones with dead presidents.
I'm off to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland in a week or so. I will run a boat for Giants and have another go at the Halibut again. If I do anything, I'll sneak SWMBO's camera on board and try and take a picture or two.
Funny thing, I haven't been able to get any SKIMMERS up there. No one sells them. If anyone know where I can get a couple of bushels, PLEASE let me know.
I'm taking my jigs that I got in NORWAY. There colored and the body on them look different(knock offs I guess) from VIKIE jigs.
