Northstar neighborhood Group charter

Went fishing on the Northstar fron OCNJ yesterday with a group from my 55 and over community. We went on the older boat not the Express. We started out fishing for croakers off the beach. We caught a bunch. I was throwing mine back into the ocean because I don't care to eat them. One of the guys told me he wanted them so I gave him quite a few.
We did that for a couple of hours then went offshore to one of the inshore reefs. we fished for seabass and caught quite a few, but only about 5 keepers on the boat with a group of 24.I had no keepers. We also caught some small porgies ( I think they only come in that size)
The boat is old but not in horrible shape. One of the bathrooms(the womens) had no door. That didn't bother me cause I rarely close the bathroom door on a boat.
The thing that surprised me was that there was no ruler or measuring device on the boat. the mate said he couldn't find it. We had to use the embossed ruler on the top of my cooler.
There also was no balance of scale to determine the pool winner. They said we could probably weigh them at the dock. The group settle the pool by estimating what fish was heaviest. The top 3 were a bluefish, triggerfish and big seabass. The triggerfish won.

It was a great day with beautiful weather for a change and everyone had fun
