[Fishing Report]

Fluke

Raritan Bay is giving up keepers on bucktails topped with bait strips.

Fisherman party boat reports good catches of keeper fluke at Atlantic Highlands. Both bait and bucktails work but bucktails are scoring larger fish.

Beach Haven boats are reporting fluke in the inlet but the keeper ratio is 20 throwbacks to 1 keeper.

Party boats are starting to get more keepers in North Jersey by fishing in the ocean.. Bigger fluke seem to be in 60-70 feet of water.

Bluefish

Big Jamaica from Brielle is finding good bluefish action on the west side of the Mudhole 13-16 miles from Brielle.Pool winners are in the 14 lb range. Bluefsh are abundant along the Jersey Shore. Most are fouln at the 20 fathom line and beyond (20-30 milesoffshore).

Kingfish

Kingfish are showing up all over the beach from Cape May to LBI . They are biting mostly on bloodworms.

Striped Bass

The striper catch is diminishing along South Jersey. Some fish are being caught on the beached at night. Jersey Tackle. says that Brick Beach has produced stripers in the 40lb range using fresh bunker and 5 or 7oz Krocs. Boats are still catching stripers at the mouth of Raritan Bay and out to Romer Sgioals in North Jersey.

Sharks

Rutgers69 had mako action with 1 keeper at 135lb at the Glory Hole along with some blue sharks. Look for sharks ijn the North Part of NJ around the Mud Hole. Tha Mako mania tournament in Point Plesant produced 11 makos over 200 Lbs. The Big Boy took the tournament with a 301 lb mako.

Canyons

Giantfan had a large blue marlin on but lost it in the Hudson. Other than the blue the hudson seemed quiet.

Fishermen Headquarters reports that Scott Virana of Cherry Hill had : 7 bluefin, 6 yellowfin, 6 mahi and a white. Scott was fishing at the Lindenkohl

The June Bug from Beach haven had a large blue marlin, some skipjack, a 35 lb yellowfin and a 10lb mahi.

Canyon Runner had several yellowfin, mahi and a large mako at the Lindenkohl Canyon.




Wrecks and reefs

Captain Fran verdi on the Cousins from Beach Haven had a good catch of sea bass from The Atlantic City Reef. with 30 keepers. The paramount from Brielle is doing very well on ling. Last trip high hook was 40 fish with many having 12-18 fish.
