New jersey Short report 9-30
Gonna be a wet one!

If you want to fish it today, you better get going now because it is gonna get snotty later! Small blues were the majority yesterday with short bass coming in second till later in the day when we had some nice weigh-ins. The incoming storm will level the playing field again and you will have to go exploring tomorrow to see how Mother Nature has rearranged everything.
This just in from doom & gloom central - Isolated thunderstorms. Periods of rain. Rain may be heavy at times. Very windy with highs in the upper 70s. Southeast winds 15 to 25 mph...becoming south 25 to 30 mph this afternoon. Gusts up to 50 mph. Chance of rain near 100 percent.
Mike has a new tool in his pursuit of feathered prey. Be sure to ask him how to use your truck as a teaser!

One Graveling Point angler caught some of the one pound blues that are working the banks of the Great Bay. No striper action though.
Quite a cluster of boats still fishing up the spots at the Graveling Point general vicinity. Who knows, this next couple of days of rain could wash the spots right out of the bay for the season.
Tog action has been good all week. If no bites, move down the bank fifteen feet; it does make a difference. Bigger fish have come from Sheepshead Creek and the banks across from the fish factory.
Blowfish action is still on, not much kingfish chatter this week. Still the occasional triggerfish being caught too.
Thursday and Friday look like weather washouts. Seas are huge over the next couple of days probably making the ocean to rough to fish on Saturday and calmer but too churned up to fish Sunday. Good afternoon to curl up on the couch and watch the Jets game.

Saturday's trip was cancelled after we took a good look at the weather. The ocean was a cranking SW wind of 15-20 w/ gusts to 30, and a big nasty swell. We decided to cancel...
Sunday's trip was cancelled again, because of the same thing screaming (NNE wind). Took a ride up to the beach with my boys and there were gusts 25-30 with 5-7` out there. Good for the surfers but not the fishermen. So we decided to try some surf fishing off the beach. With the wind gusting and the ocean being so rough I really didn`t think we had a chance. Well we had a real good day. We had some nice king fish and some small bluefish that kept us busy. Back at it again this weekend.

Voyager Fishing report

TUNA FISHING has been inconsistent lately. One day you get a number of bites, and then the next day, very few. The tuna have been a mix of LARGE YELLOWFIN and LONGFIN and have ranged between 50-85 pounds. However, the offshore weather has been poor, so we have been not been out the past couple of days nor do we expect to be out during the next few.
There is some nice water moving into our canyons that we have heard is holding quality fish. Maybe the weather will allow us to get to them this coming weekend. We still have a number of trips with available spots. All of the available trips can be found on our Trip Calendar page.
Due to numerous requests, we have ADDED A ONE-DAY TILEFISH TRIP to the schedule that departs 11:00 PM SUNDAY NIGHT OCTOBER 17. The trip will return between 8 and 9 PM Monday and the fare is $300. On our last TUNA/TILEFISH TRIP, Dennis Muhlenforth of Hockessin, DE had five Golden Tilefish and won the Tilefish Pool with a 23 pound fish. Dennis also landed a nice Longfin Tuna. If you are interested in going on this trip or any upcoming TUNA trips please send us an email message.
