New jersey Fishing reports, 5-11-10
Saltwater Report:
5/11/2010
A few stripers were caught from LBI, IBSP, Seaside and the Orltey Beach area. They were cauhgt while fishing clams. But guess what, That was the four reports I had. Was told not too many out fishing I find that strange because the fish are here so now is the time to fish not in the mid of summer. Seems the party boats fishing the Sandy Hook area are doing really well catching bigger sized stripers.
Bay Report:
5/11/2010
Not many reports out of the bays. Barnegat Bay is still producing a few stripers along with plenty of bluefish. I also had one report of a few blowfish being caught.
Fresh Water Report:
5/11/2010
Those who fished yesterday had some good catches of bass, crappie, and pickeral. I have not heard much of the trout crowd lately. Thise who are fishing the D & R canal and the fedder are having some luck on minnows and Powerbait.

I dont know what you are waiting for?
Tuesday, May, 11, 2010 at 4:00AM
Only a handful of anglers out and look at the weigh-in list (that is the lower left hand corner of this page). We arent seeing enough people a day to put together much info for you but the few guys going out are doing pretty well for themselves.
We have a nice early, less nice later forecast courtesy of the weather idiots - Mostly sunny this morning...then mostly cloudy with a chance of rain this afternoon. Highs in the lower 50s. North winds around 5 mph...becoming south this afternoon. Chance of rain 50 percent. I will not be missing the wind we have had one bit but as accurate as they are, bring both your rain gear and your sunblock.
Are you registered with the feds yet! You have to do it if you are over 16 and the cost is zero dollars. It will only take two minutes unless you type like me. All the info is on this website:

When I last saw Mike last night, he had his head in a Seeker box (now that presented a tempting target). This means he will be too busy with the new toys to annoy me for a couple of days. It also means that if you get too close to him, you will have to put up with his show & tell blithering.

Some of the new toys arrived!!!! Wish Grump had been there so I could have showed him some of them. I didn′t see him anywhere yesterday he must have gone home early. Got some nice 8 foot blanks in and a couple of the new Hercules jigging blanks. Still waiting for more......Mike
Mothers Day was quiet!
Monday, May, 10, 2010 at 4:55AM
Pretty much as expected, mostly everybody went to Moms and skipped the beach! There were a few attendees, notably Eric Polovina who, out of the goodness of his own heart, took his Mom and his wife (about to be a mom), Sam to the beach. They were rewarded with a 10 lb. Bass for dinner which Eric claims to have caught but I suspect the girls had something to do with it.
The evil weatherman just will not turn down the wind machine - Sunny and breezy. Highs in the lower 60s. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph. Well, make the best of it. At least it will make you look like you took casting lessons.
According to a shipping notice, we will have more Shimano Baitrunners delivered this afternoon. Come get em while we got em.
Oh do I hope Seeker delivers those rod blanks soon. Mighty Mouth Mike is behaving like an expectant father and driving us nutz. We can have a couple of days of quiet until he gets the first prototype built.

Fathers day is coming you know and I have to get new stuff once and awhile. If Grump could stop talking for 15 minutes straight the wind would subside and we could all enjoy the sunshine. He knows what causes all that wind he just can′t help hisself.....Mike
Happy Mothers Day!!!
Sunday, May, 9, 2010 at 4:08AM
In honor of this special day, All Mothers that come in the store today get a Mothers Day Gifty!
You can expect the same wind as we had yesterday but if you check the weigh-in list for Saturday, the fish have no problem with a windy day!!! At least with a west wind you look like you took casting lessons. The Bass are favoring Grumpy Clams but metal lip swimmers are getting some attention with the water temp around 60. There are Blues scattered around everywhere and bunker is a good bet but they are doing the bluefish thing and will hit nearly anything you throw at them. Get your stuff together and get on the beach. You wont get any of these fish sitting around waiting for your buddy to call you!
This is what your evil weatherman has decided your day will look like - Mostly sunny and very windy. Much cooler with highs in the upper 50s. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. See, I told ya he was evil!

My ears are still ringing from Mikes blithering yesterday. I hope that blank order he is expecting comes in real soon. I should be good for a couple of day of peace and quiet while he plays with his new toys.

Still a bluefish majority!

Loads of blues cruising the inlet and beaches with some bass mixed in. The water has warmed to 60 or so and we have been seeing a little more success with swimmers and poppers. We have some kind of front coming through and the last time this happened the fish went crazy. Maybe we will get a repeat!
The evil weatherman has changed this forecast so many times in the last 24 hours you should cover all the bases and bring your raingear, sunblock and maybe a snow shovel(?) - Mostly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms likely in the morning...then partly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Windy with highs in the mid 70s. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent. They had the wind so wrong yesterday I doubt they have this right.

We have gone to our summer hours and are open until Midnight Friday & Saturday.
Mike must be in training for a marathon (talking, not running). Today I will try to teach him to stop once in a while to take a breath.

Scotts Bait and Tackle, Mystic Island,Fishing Report 5-11-10
Monday, May 10, 2010 /\/\/\ 5:27pm
Frost and wind this morning didn't make for any ambitious anglers. Forecast is for frost again tomorrow morning.
If you don't mind traveling and love catching big stripers, research a head boat up North or call a friend who fishes the beach up North. Word is the big bass fishing can't get any better. The only reports that I am getting are pretty sketchy, so I really have nothing specific to pass along. Browse some head boat pages running out of the area that would fish Sandy Hook. I will try to get a better lead on some specifics to pass along later in the week. I guess it's going to be all about weather this week too.

Riptide Bait and Tackle Fishing Report, Brigantine, NJ, 5-12-10
Mr Smith just arrived with 150.00 lbs of FRESH BUNKER!!!
11 May 2010, 12:16 PM

Mr Smith just walked in with 150 pounds of FRESH BUNKER. For those of you who don't know what it looks like I figured I would help you out and post a picture
Check for clear eyes, feel for firmness and make sure it still has the bunker slime on it. The bass are still biting and the middle of Brigantine to the South end jetty have been producing fish.
Thanks
Capt Andy
First two weigh-ins of the morning
11 May 2010, 9:24 AM

Just weighed in the first two stripers of the morning. Levi Blank had a 28" 7 pounder and Bill Kettleson had a 14 pounder ( in the photo ). They were both caught on Riptide Rotters. I did just hear from Mr Smith and he should be in before noon with the bunker. If you need some please make sure you call because even though most of these fish are being caught on clams the FRESH BUNKER is still flying out of here.
PLEASE BE CAREFULL THE BEACH IS VERY SOFT IN CERTAIN AREAS!!!!!!
Thanks and Good Luck
Capt Andy
2:30 pm the school arrived today
10 May 2010, 5:50 PM

I started to get the calls around 2:30 pm today. I weighed in 4 fish up to 31 pounds and know of several others that were lost in the wash or caught in the white waters. Craig Friedman caught a 41.5 inch 30lb 7oz striper on RIPTIDE ROTTERS. He saw Bruce LeBlanc catch a 13 pounder and decided to set up base just a block past him. That was a personal best for Craig and he really puts his time in when he can. Dave Simone was fishing on Mark Bachmans boat with out any success and decided to dock the boat and head to the beach where he caught a nice 16 pounder from the surf. I had several calls today so it looks like this may be the beginning of the school???? Do I know for sure? OF COURSE NOT!!!!! but if your pole is not in the water you will never know either
The wind will be laying down tomorrow and I know Mr Smith will be out hunting down some FRESH bunker for me. I will post as soon as I hear from him.
Thanks and Good Luck
Capt Andy
Monday is very slow.......
10 May 2010, 1:01 PM
After having a great Saturday with a nice blitz on the beach, the past 2 days have been very slow. I was just told about one fish that was caught today and we are just waiting for the next school of fish to show up. Mr Smith did not make it out today but he says that he will be out there tomorrow and I will post as soon as I know that we will be getting the bunker in. 2 customers purchased bunker at another place and they were told that it was fresh, they showed it to me and we all had a a good laugh. I don't know if these places are ignorant or maybe they don't know what FRESH bunker is???? I just have to sit back and laugh. I will also be getting up the rest of the pictures from this weekend. If for some reason you don't see your picture up there just shoot me an e-mail and I will find it.
Thanks and Good Luck

Captain Andy's Fishing Report, Margate City, NJ, 5-12-10
Fishing Report 05-09-10
Not much to report this week except the wind has been doing a number on the fishing along with dropping temp. a few degrees.
Striper fishing continues to be the main game in town lately. Anywhere from the Beasleyís Point Bridge out to the Great Egg Inlet, anglers are landing some nice size Stripers. Ninty Five percent of the fish being caught are eating fresh clam. Out going tide seems to be the better of the two tides to fish. There even have been a few fish taken at the local piers, Margate and Ventnor. Anywhere you can find structure, rocks, a rip or a change in the bottom, you have a good chance to hook up. There also have been a few small drum fish taken in the inlets lately.
There are a few small Bluefish (2 to 4 lb.) being caught way in the back of Scullís Bay around Methodist Ditch. Most of these were caught on the bottom of the outgoing tide.
Hot off the press. Capt. John Herron (The Keeper), out of Margate will start sailing this week for FLUKE, yes thatís right FLUKE. He has a special permit that allows his to start early. Please contact him at 609-576-5998 for any information.
LOCAL CATCHES
The keeper had striper at the Longport Bridge on Saturday. They were using clam for bait.
Sunday morning Lorenzo DiSante of Cherryville Pa. landed an 18 lb. 4 oz. Striper from the outside rock pile in Longport. (see photo)
