At Point Pleasant, Capt. Bobby Bogan ran his Gambler north to Long Branch and Sea Bright for a pick of short and legal stripers plus blues. Bogan said most anglers started off with big Krocodiles and diamond jigs, but ended up doing much better with Ava 27s as the fish were on small bait. Except for the ground swell, it was perfectly fishable despite the bad wind forecast.

Capt. Charlie Eble of the Doris Mae IV sailed and reported a catch of 21 yellowfin and longfin tuna.

"Jigging produced most of the fish. Conditions were rough with more wind than predicted. We probably would have caught a lot more with better conditions," Eble said.

The yellowfin were in the 50- to 75-pound class and as expected the longfin were running slightly smaller at 35 to 50 pounds. They also boated a 175-pound swordfish and kicked in three dozen skipjacks.

Boaters should be able to jig lots of stripers along the Shore as soon as the northeaster relents. Look for bird action, and keep an eye out for marks on your fishfinder. There are obvious places to look, such as Shrewsbury Rocks, but bass are likely to be found wherever there's bait. Though the water temperature has dropped into the mid-fifties or less, some bluefish are still in th the picture.

Things are looking pretty good!

That real strong NE wind yesterday made conditions tough but that is gone and right now it is light. After a blow like that, the bite usually picks up. We had Bass on the scale yesterday on an assortment of artificials and bait. Expect the surf to be up today so bring the big sticks and heavy metal. I would think Clams to be a top choice for bait today with the surf all stirred up. Skinny metals with the all important teaser are still a good bet. Swimmers and plugs wouldnt be a bad idea either.
We just got a big shipment of ZeeBaas reels in. All sizes are in stock.
This is the latest from the weather idiots - Sunny and breezy. Highs in the upper 50s. Northeast winds 15 to 20 mph. If the wind gets that high (light wind now) expect it to be dimishing during the day!

PM--Report Ocean is settling down from what it has been . Our bait supply is low. We do have fresh schuked clams, green crabs and live els. We expect shelled clams in early tomorrow. With sea condtions calming they are going to try for bunker tomorrow. Lets hope they find. We were lucky to have a good shot of fresh on Thursday but it is long gone. Even if we still had it after 2 days it is not fresh to us and becomes frozen crab bait.

This am it is 42 with a lite NNE wind. They are calling for it to be 10-15 today with gusts but dropping out again tonight. Water is 54 this am.

Few weigh in yesterday from the north end. All bluefish.

Early anglers who caught the falling tide this morning in Little Egg Inlet WHOOPED up on the stripers. Once the tide changed, the bad inlet conditions became even worse. A lot of boats ended up in a cluster in the area of Little Beach and didn't do a whole lot. As the day progressed, some were able to spread out and get into their favorite spots and picked away at stripers all day long. After the first shot of bass, there were no big numbers captured today.
I wish I had a better weather report to pass along. More North and North East winds for Saturday too. I guess it's good news and bad news rolled up in one. It seems the Bass are loving the Little Egg inlet in it's frothy state. Use caution, and safe fishing this weekend.
Do not count on us for fresh clams until 7:00am Saturday morning. Two big blasts of clam are due which means we will be good to go right through Monday.

It has been good for the boaters in the inlet and back bays but the surf has been ugly to say the least early today. We will see what the tide change will bring us. It's been tough to hold out front and the only report so far has been Phil Moses who weighed in a 9 pounder caught from the South end of the Island. We have fresh shucked clams and will be getting in fresh clams in the shell in the morning. don't know if/when I will be getting our FRESH Riptide bunker. Mr Smith is trying to get out when the ocean allows him but she has not been playing fair lately and he has been trying his hardest to get us bunker. There has been other BS bunker out there that I refuse to get because it is NOT fresh and the guy is a MORON!!!!! I have seen what he calls fresh and he is mad because I refuse to buy his ****!!!!

Thanks and Good Luck

11-12-10 Well,we made it back out today, ocean was a bit cranky in the morning with a big ground swell out of the east and a North winds about twenty on top of it.Not rough enough to come back, but enough to knock the fishing inshore for a loop.Made two drops in shallow and had not much life, then it calmed down a bit and we made it back out to the deep and had life immediatley.Mostly sea bass, some shorts and some keepers.Couple of blackfish and a few ling.Went even deeper and the life fell apart again, got back in the correct zone and had some more life.Mostly sea bass again. At the end of the day the ocean calmed down alot and we kept picking at em.High hook had 9 keeper bass and a ling, some had a few and in between like that.Tomorrow I would think it should be even better with the ocean calming down so much, see ya in the am.A blackfish about 4 lbs.ended up winning the pool today.

A lot more blues on today's trip. Tom Wilson of Perkasio, PA was high hook and pool winner. He took his limit out of 4 keepers, plus numerous shorts and blues.

Due to tomorrow's forecast for a continued groundswell, we have decided to go striper fishing again. On Sunday, Nov 14 we will be bottom fishing. Don't forget that starting Tuesday, Nov 16 we will start targeting Blackfish. All trips 3/4 day, departing at 7:30 AM.

Thurs 11/11 Veterans' Day Fishing Report
Because of the sea conditions we decided to striper fish for a couple of days, and although we didn't have much of a turnout, we had good fishing. Several limits, decent action, and blues mixed in. We going to target the bass again tomorrow.

Nov. 12th: The ocean has calmed down quite a bit; but it is still pretty rough. Big rods and heavy metal are still on the agenda today..........

If you were fishing that protected northern Monmouth County point yesterday, there is a good chance you were in on some of the best fishing New Jersey has to offer. I wonder if it will happen again today???
