Lots of Big Blues and a few Bass yesterday on Jigs inshore. Fast paced action most of the day. Golden Eagle regular, Mike Mitchell Sr. took top prize yesterday by putting a 23lb Bass in the boat on a jig. Congrats Mike.

Steady night fishing off shore for blues caught mostly on bait. These fish are in the 5 to 8lb class and provided nice action all night.

BASS & BLUES COLUMBUS DAY MORNING... CANYON TUNA MON. Evening through Tuesday Evening. Still a few spots open.

October 9th

The bass have begun to move and there are some big blues with them being taken on jigs fishing close to the beach. The bass run has gotten started and will only heat up from here. The boat is out right now fishing just north of the inlet and the report is they are beating them up in a big way. There are still blues and some albies off shore as well taking jigs and bait during the day and bait at night. Some great fall fishing is here with more on the way.

ed fuance overnighter "shake em up jimmy" 10/8/10
capt's jimmy gahm and sean carton took ed faunce, of doylestown,pa and harry chimelewski to the hudson canyon for an overnighter. the weatherman had a bad day as the 15-20 knot northwest turned into 25 plus, as this was a challenging trip to say the least. within an hour of trolling in sloppy conditions we had landed two beautiful 60 pound yellowfins, and we missed a few others. on the chunk we were greeted by very angry seas and it made the fishing, extremly difficult. we boated a 70 pound yellowfin and 18 nice mahi, but the conditions deteriorated and that was all she wrote. we headed to the barn for a bumpy ride home at daybreak. it would have been nice to see how well we could have done in better conditions, but it wasn't meant to be.

Update on yesterday **

Two bass were entered.

Chilly morning in some place today. Here it is in the low 50s with no wind and the water is 65.

With the chilly weather I hope some more fish move. Week ahead looks nice with no major wind but some light N and Ne.

Tomorrow is the last day of seabass for awhile.

Plenty of bait in stock other than bloodworms today.

The spots were hard to find around the corner of Graveling Point today, but fishing off of the Mystic Beach they were still plentiful. Chris had steady action in our back lagoon yesterday. A chum log helped get the action started and keep it going.
Big striper of the day was caught by Ed Gautier; TAKE THAT GEORGE, 21.0 pounds 39". Ed was off of Deep Point late enough in the afternoon that all other folks had moved on. The coloration of the bass was a crisp black and silver indicating that it was an ocean fish sliding up the Mullica River to snack on the plentiful Blue Back Herring.
On Sunday, Freddy Vasquez and Angel Mercado caught the first reported keeper stripers this Fall from Graveling Point. Nice fish too, one at 21.4 pounds and the other at 9.2. Still no steady or dependable bass action in the Great Bay.
Robin Horner weighed in a nice round fifteen inch tautog today caught while fishing the banks opposite the fish factory. It weighed 2.1 pounds.

100ft. Paramount Fishing Report

Updated 10/10/10

Capt. Francis Bogan

We had some decent Sea Bass fishing the past few days with some Porgies mixed in as well.

Wednesday’s Ling trip was decent, but strong current that picked up as the day progressed made fishing difficult later in the day. Despite the current we still had high hooks around twenty fish with most anglers landing from 6 to 12 Ling per person. Noel Westerland from Leonardo, NJ had 21 Ling, Dennis Stock from Fairview, NJ had 14 Ling and John Peters from Philadelphia had 12 Ling.

The last couple days of Sea Bass fishing saw the keeper percentage go up a bit higher than it had been, with most anglers landing from 5 to 10 keepers each with some anglers in the teens and even a few limits depending on the day.

Some catches of note from the past couple days were Bob Amey from Allentown, PA and and Yi Zhuang from Lyndhurst, NJ with limits of keeper Sea Bass and some Porgies. Charlie McLynden from Hampton, NJ had 21 Sea Bass and a Porgy, Jack Decker from North Haledon, NJ had 18 Sea Bass. There have been Porgies mixed in on every trip the past few days.

Sea Bass Season will be closed from October 12th through October 31st!

Starting Tuesday, October 12th and throughout the Sea Bass closure we will be sailing on our Deep Water Ling Specials every Tuesday, Wednesday AND Thursday from 6:30am till 3:30 pm targeting Ling and Cod on the deep water drops and in the Mudhole.

The Paramount sails from:

10/11 Garvandt Charter Stiper/Bottom
Fishing Reports and News
Written by Capt. Bob
Tuesday, 12 October 2010 09:32

Mon 10/11 Had the Dwayne Garvandt Charter out today, main target was Stripers. On Calm conditions tried drfiting the rip, nothing. MAde a run and found a large body of birds hovering but not working, got solid reads on the bottom. The boys started jigging, nothing but Weak Fish from 9-12" acres of them. Played around for a while and made another run. Ran off shore of the rocks and read good Bass reads stacked on the bottom, out came the jiggs. Nothing, the boys jigged their arms off. MAde a few calls to a couple other CApt's in the area, they had same results.
New Jersey Fishing report 10-12 page 2-dscf1817.jpgSwitched over to bottom and ran to the reef, again a Porgy slam fest, no Tog or Sea Bass but 1 nice Blow fish......poles bent no stop.

Oct. 11th: Catching Bass and Bluefish still seem's to be a hit or miss proposition through-out Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The clam fisherman have had the most consistant fishing.
***
Oct. 10th: Striped Bass fishing was on the slow side yesterday; although the water looked great and fisherman were out; the fish were just not cooperating............
***
We did have one gentleman come back to the store yesterday afternoon to buy more clams; he caught a 30" bass and quite a few sub-legal fish in approx. forty five minutes; seems he was really surprised that the fish were hitting at dead low tide. This gentleman learned a couple of very valuable lessons:
1] Get out and fish when you have free time; while it is nice to fish preferred tides, do not put to much emphases on them.
2] Always bring more bait than you think you will need; there is nothing worse than running out of bait when you are into fish.
