New jersey Charter boat and bait and tackle reports, 9-20

    Saltwater / Jetty Report: 9/21/2010
Well first off welcome to fall. It ever felt like fall this morning. Lack of people fishing equals not many reports. The surf has laid down a bit and is very fishable but you still may need 8 ozs to hold bottom. Only report from yesterday were a few stripers from LBI, IBSP and Seaside.

    9/20/2010
Morning was good but the afternoon slowed down yesterday from the surf. In the afternoon it was just smaller bluefish from the LBI and IBSP surf. Today I had a report this morning that it is still pretty rough and you need at least 8 ozs to hold. You may want to throw heavy AVA's today.

    Bay Report: 9/21/2010
Not many reports out of Barnegat Bay, Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay. Some spots, white perch, small blackfish and snappers and blowfish were reported caught but no reports of where.

    9/20/2010
You have to fish Barnegat Bay, Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay for the small types of fish right now. Blowfish, smaller blackfish, smaller sea bass, and snappers is the fish of the day. People fishing these are doing ok. I went crabbing in Barnegat Bay yesterday after work and had a about a dozen keepers and a few very small blowfish.

    Fresh Water Report: 9/21/2010
It was one of those Mondays where everyone is back to work so not many fishing. Because of that I had no reports yesterday.

    9/20/2010
Lots fishing and lots of reports from all over. Looks like the rain and cooler weather has jump started the fis a bit. Had reports from all over that bass, pickeral, sunnies, catfish, and yellow perch were caught. Looks like the fall fishing is getting better and should last till the water gets too cold. Heard the walleye fishing in the Delaware River has been pretty good lately.

Grumpy's Bait and Tackle Fishing report, Seaside Park , 9-21-10

    Back to normal
    Tuesday, September, 21, 2010 at 5:06AM
Yeah I know, that was a poor choice of words for us. I was actually talking about the long period ground swells from Hurricane Igor which have peaked and are diminishing quickly. We had a usual Monday with light attendance but we did have a lovely dinner sized Bass on clams, weighed in by one of the afterwork crew.
This is what the weather idiots have for today - Sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph...becoming south 10 to 15 mph this afternoon.
It looks like Mike has enlisted Ray to help in the battle to drive me crazy. When the blind leadeth the blind it is easy to step out of the way.

Jingles Bait and Tackle fishing report, Beach Haven 9-21-10

    Tues Sept 21st

Did you see that mon this morning?

Chilly morning again. Once again below 60. Winds are dropping out and the seas are also. Water temps are starting to go down also.

Today is the last full day of summer! Tomorrow they are talking about temps hitting 90 inland.

Not much in the way of fishing to talk about from yesterday. Something on the plus side was there was some more bait moving and we are all hoping that with this full moon even more will move and bring some more fish.

Island Beach and north seems to be catching some bass and large bluefish. Their water is deeper up there and here we have a lot of sandbars. This year we have very few cuts in the bar so we may have to work a little harder this year to catch a fish.

    Mon Sept 20th

This morning was a big surf with waves hitting the beach hard. Things are settling down tonight. Picture is showing Atlantic City this am. Picture from Atlantic City Press.

This morning it is 64 degrees with a NNW wind at 15 and the ocean is 72. Today we have a high surf advisory and a small craft warning in effect.

Today N winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 6 to 9 ft...mostly in long period swells. Tonight N winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 6 to 9 ft...mostly in long period swells.

Beautiful weekend. The ocean was not ruff just swelly. The inlet at low tide was nasty.

The surf had fish the whole weekend just not the bass that everybody is looking for.

This weekend I was lucky to know a young couple that got married here on the beach. Ron and Jen are a young couple that fish and are really hooked.

I attended a wedding aniversary party on the Black Pearl (the new pirate ship) for Greg and Mary Ivancich.

    Congratulations on 50 years!

After leaving there I went to a viewing for a long time friend. Some people may not know him by name but only by the name of his boat.

Dick Johnson was one of the owners of the "Odin". Dick was a guy that always had you laughing and he would put a smile on your face. He will be missed by many.

My condolences to his wife Joan and his children..

Scotts Bait and Tackle Fishing report, Mystic Island, 9-21-10

    Monday, September 20, 2010 /\/\/\ 5:55pm
No new earth shatterning news to pass along this evening. Beautiful weather to be out in the boat. Bay fishermen continue to think spots, white perch, tautog and little blues and blowfish. For whatever reason, some anglers are finding the right spots while others are having a tough time picking away at anything. I believe it has a lot to do with being in the right place at the right time.
Crabbing up the Mullica River is on with some crabbbers coming home with crabs up to seven inches point to point; SWEET!

The Chum Bucket Fishing Report, West Creek, NJ, 9-21-10

    Hutchs' Report 9/21/10
    Written by Jim Hutchinson
    Tuesday, 21 September 2010

The captains of the Beach Haven Charter Fishing Association continued to find decent fishing despite storms and rough seas from the various tropical storms and hurricanes passing off the coast. It appears the strong fishing will run well into the fall. The “Miss Beach Haven” with Captains Brant Whittaker and Frank Camarda braved the inlet swells last Saturday with a full load of anglers to find a beautiful day on the ocean. Mate Sal Rosa reports there were large numbers of fish coming over the rails with quite a few keepers mixed in with the fish that were too short. In addition to the fat sea bass, there were quite a few blackfish boated. John Cheeseman was the pool winner with a large blackfish. It was a different story for the “Miss Beach Haven” on Sunday as the captains saw the swells were even larger and decided to cancel the day’s fishing. Captain Carl Sheppard on the “Star Fish” had five days of excellent fishing before the waves from Hurricane Igor arrived. He reports the black sea bass are back in force after their spawning, and one day his party boated over 100 fish with a good percentage of them keepers. They also caught quite a few doormat fluke which had to be returned to the water. To make the trips even more interesting they ran into some amberjack and a little later some scattered false albacore. The false albacore seemed to like silver lures and old fashioned feathers. Additional information on the association can be found at www.BHCFA.com or by calling 1-877-LBI-BHCFA (1-877-524-2423).

Voyager Fishing Report, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, 9-21-10

    September 20, 2010

TUNA FISHING picked up over the past couple of days. The tuna have been a mix of YELLOWFIN and LONGFIN and have ranged between 50-75 pounds.

The larger size of the fish has resulted in more lost fish than last season, but at least three anglers including Donald Shima, Mike Accordino, and Ken Dumsha landed two tuna apiece.

The tuna have been caught on bait and jigs, but jigs worked better on our last trip.

We still have room on all trips this week, so please send us an e-mail message if you are interested.

    UPCOMING TRIPS on the VOYAGER...

    Tuesday 7:00 AM - 30-hour TUNA-MAHI

    Thursday 7:00 AM - 30-hour TUNA-TILEFISH

    Saturday 4:00 PM - 22-hour TUNA

Fisherman's Headquarters Fishing Report, Ship Bottom, NJ, 9-21-10

    September 20, 2010

Received: Monday, September 20, 2010 4:15 PM Subject: Bay Blowfish report with my kids

I got a chance to fish with my kids, son Stephen Jr (10) and daughter Cali (12) on Sunday in the Bay and did we have a blast! Big blowfish were on the bite but daughter Cali (aka: Puffer Policewoman) ensured that there would be "No Blowfish dinner for You" as she thinks they are just too cute to eat. The bay is chock full of fun and exciting species to catch such as blowfish, seabass, burrfish, weakfish, porgy, spot, snappers. So bring the kids, it's a great way to spend some quality time and introduce them to the fun of fishing. I recommend plenty of clam chum [fresh or frozen] with fresh clam for bait and plenty of rigs as most of the fish have formidable dentures!

Miss Beach Haven fishing report 9-19

LBI Fishing 9/19/10: A beautiful day, on land but oh that surf. After a dock side conference between Captains Frank and Brant, it was decided not to sail today because of the swells in the inlet. Better to error on the side of caution the get anyone hurt. And remember the Galley will be closed on Sunday Oct. 3. ...Sal

LBI Fishing 9/18/10: Wow what a ride going out the inlet today, BIG ROLLERS till we cleared the channel, after that it was fine. A beautiful bay on the water, lots and I mean lots of fish coming over the rails. The Moose brought Todds bachelor party on board for a day of fishing. After Friday night some slept, and some fished, like Joe who between shorts and keepers stopped counting at thirty. I had five that's right five black fish. Bam bam bam one right after the other, to bad there was not one keeper in the bunch. We had the triple play of Petes on board today. Pete, Re-Pete and Three-Petes, with Three-Petes being the high hook with fourteen nice keeper sea-bass. Three-Petes worked hard, but he could not take the pool from John Blackfishslayer Cheeseman who once again had a real nice tog. On the ride in our beautiful eighty foot, twenty foot wide beam boat was surfing in some real big waves, any surfer would have been jealous of her.

    Fisherman Fred's Fishing Report, Hamilton,NJ, 9-22-10

    Saltwater / Jetty Report: 9/22/2010
As the swells went away the stripers returned. Few stripers and bluefish were caught from LBI, IBSP, and the Seaside area. Only one I heard what it was caught on was from LBI and that was on mullet. Have not heard much from the boaters but some have made trips to the canyons on party or charter boats for tuna. They have had some luck but I am just not hearing to much about it. Also some of the party boats are doing pretty good with sea bass.

    Bay Report: 9/22/2010
Barnegat Bay is the best bet if you want to catch blowfish. Reports from around the BB, BI, and 40 buoys seem to be the hot spot for them. Sod banks in Barnegat Bay are also producing a few blackfish. Great Bay there are a few reports of blowfish, snappers, and small blackfish from the banks. No reports from Tuckerton Bay yesterday at all. But then again not many are fishing during the week now. Crabbing has really slowed down now but you still can get a meal if you work a bit.

    Fresh Water Report: 9/22/2010
Another slow fishing day. I guess everybody is now bowhunting. I did have a few reports that waters levels are still low but the last rain did fill things in a bit. Now on to the few fishing reports I had, bass, sunnies, and catfish from Town Center, bass and pickeral from Miry Run (tech pond) and Etra Lake. And that is all she worte as far as reports go.

Grumpy's Bait and Tackle Fishing report, Seaside Park , 9-22-10

    Calm after the non-storm

    Wednesday, September, 22, 2010 at 5:13AM
All the big swells are gone and the surf zone is down to normal bordering on boring. Blues from various locations was all I heard yesterday but then again, there weren′t all that many anglers around.
The weather idiots have decided on the guess of the day - Sunny. Highs in the lower 80s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Brace your selves for the next round of overhyped sensationalized reporting. They have found a tropical disturbance near Africa - what is the, about 7,000 miles away?
We have the long awaited Penn Torque Spinning Reels in stock! There has been a lot of interest in them so if you have been waiting for them, it is time to act.
Mike came to a conclusion yesterday! That is not to be construed to be a decision, he just got tired of trying to think and stopped.

Boy Ray sure works fast I asked him last week to see about the Penn Torque spinning reels and they are here already. I′ve been asking Grump the same question for a year. Ray moves stuff and new stuff appears. He got a bunch more toys in yesterday. Wonder what will show up today.
Grump thinks I stopped thinking, I just stopped paying attention to him.......
