Jingles Bait and Tackle fishing report, Beach Haven 9-22-10
Wed Sept 22nd
This morning it is 67 with a SW wind about 12. The water is still holding in the low 70s. Inland they are talking about temps hitting 90 degrees today on this last day of summer.
Small craft warnings are up are till 11am.
There looks to be a small window of time for smaller boats to do a canyon trip on Thursday. Offshore they have been trolling and chunking tuna but mostly they have been charter and head boats going.
Worms, fish bites and mullet are the top sellers right now in the store.
Mullet was the right bait for a 34 inch bass caught yesterday morning. Finally something over 28 inches.

Date: Sep 21, 2010 1:05 PM Subject: Barnegat Report from Bottom Line Charters
A few days ago we had Jim Turtle and crew; Steve, Billy, and big Walt out on the "Bottom Line". After talking over our options we decided to go for a bluefish, bonito, or albacore what we call a speedster trip.
We broke the inlet a little later then I like, around 8 AM and found a beautiful, flat calm ocean as we headed straight out Barnegat Inlet about 5 miles. This is when being friendly and sharing info with other captains pays off. (Capt. Sam of "Party Time" Charters) We were heading to a spot that those guys had some luck the the day before. We got the chum in the water by 8:45 AM with two guys with jigs, and the other two baited up with chunks and spearing floating in the slick. Our first fish was on in about 15 minutes into the trip, a big bluefish taken by Bill on a jig. Then started to pick up more blues that were about 10 to 12 pounds. They were hitting both the jigs and bait. I had a rig set way back on a balloon with some spearing just thinking bluefin maybe. We would have lots of fun with the blues but no albies.
At around 1:00 we made a move a little further North and found a little cleaner and warmer water. And again we started catching bluefish. We had some wild periods where we would have every rod hooked up.
Finally, my balloon took off and this was no bluefish. I hooked the fish and gave the rod to Walt and it was on. I would say Walt battled this fish for a good 15 minutes or so before the fish spit the hook. Not sure what it actually was but I want to think it may have been a bluefin.
Overall, it was another great day on the water. Everybody had a great time catching some really nice bluefish. I lost count after 40 and all fish were released except for two. Thanks Guys. Book your striper trips now!

Dorothy B Fishing Report, Atlantic Highlands, NJ, 9-22-10
TUESDAY SEPT 21
I, like the rest of the fleet in the Harbor decided it was a good day to stay at the dock. We did get out today with a handful of hearty souls, but there was a cranky sea on. Keepers were in short supply even though I did a lot of searching. Matt McCawley did manage 2 keepers including a 6 pounder. Others were not so lucky.
Conditions look better for tomorrow and the forecast is for a beautiful summer's day, even though it is the first day of Autumn. So grab your gear and come aboard.

Ocean Explorer Fishing Report, Belmar, NJ, 9-22-10
9-21-10 Had only a small crowd today, but those who came were treated to some very good sea bass fishing. It was drop and real fishing most of the day, single, double and triple headers, both plenty of keepers and throwbacks.Shame we only had a small crowd cause it was beautiful out there.Myself and Jeff really put a hurting on em with the diamond jigs.If you had a teaser on it you had a double header everytime. At one point we had the fish so thick you only had to drop down halfway to the bottom to get em on.It was good.See ya tomorrow, and dont forget your 007 jigs or a-127s.Had em on the 47s too.We will show you how to use em.Rest of the week looks good.

Gambler Fishing Report, Pleasant Beach, NJ, 9-22-10
SEPT 21 2010
Returned from our first tuna trip of the season on Saturday. The Gambler found some beautiful warm and lifey water in the Hudson canyon. We did not have too much life until 5AM --when it broke loose. Up to 5 tuna on at a time. Crazy action for 2 hours, 50 to 70lb yellowfin tuna and 30 to 40 lb longfin tuna.
After 7AM we landed 2 more tuna. Once it died out completely, we did some pot hopping for mahi-mahi and had another 2 hours of good action on those fish. Overall, a very nice trip. Plenty of room on up-coming trips to the canyons.
On Tues, Sept 28th and Sat, Oct 2nd, the Gambler will run open boat exotics trips, fishing for albies, bonito, skip jack and mahi. No resvs are needed for those two dates. Fare is $65. Times 7AM till 3PM.
