8-30 Report
Calm Ocean - Hot Bluefishing
Bluefishing is the Best Bet for the Week
Bluefishing was super again Sunday, Sunday night & Monday. We went to the same area 15 miles SE of Brielle and upon arriving at the grounds read bluefish from the bottom up half-way to the surface. As soon as we stopped we had blues biting on both bait and jigs. The action continued all day until it was time to head in.
Everone on board caught plenty of bluefish.
The night trip was also excellent. Blefishing could not be any better than it is right now!
Pool winners:
Alice Omichi from Bloomington NY with a 15LB bluefish,
Danny Brugger from Wallkill NY with a 15.5LB bluefish.
Now is a good time to go bluefishing.
The big Jamaica is scheduled to sail every day at 7:30AM and every night at 7:30PM through Sept 14.
There are still a few spots open on our Special limited canyon trip sailing 5PM Sept. 5.

Fisherman Fred's Fishing Report, Hamilton,NJ, 9-01-10
Saltwater Report:
8/31/2010
Well here we go again, as the fluke season winds down the fish are getting bigger. Some fluke off the surf in LBI and IBSP on Gulp or spearing, blues on mullet, bunker or metals. And oh by the way a few short striper with a keeper thrown in once in awhile. Oops did I say stripers? yes I did. At night on clams. I also heard some guys are using eels if they can get them. So it is no longer a rumor. Did hear anything from the boaters yesterday.
Bay / Jetty Report:
8/31/2010
The inlet jetties are the place to be if you are trying to catch bigger fluke right now. With only 7 days left in the fluke season, if you are going fluking you better get going. And of course now that the season is winding down they are getting bigger. Had reports out of Barnegat Bay that some grand slams (weakfish, striper, fluke, and bluefish) were caught. I have been asked if we had eels and nw I know why. The rumors of some stripers being caught are true. Nothing big yet but a striper is a striper. The kingfish and blowfish is doing ok in Barnegat Bay but I have not had any reports from Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay lately. Crabbing has slowed just a little but is still going good.
Fresh Water Report:
8/31/2010
Lots of people fishing and few reports came back. Had a few reports of bass, pickeral, sunnies, and catfish being caught. Just remember to fish a little slower in this heat today. Or fish live bait such as worms or minnows.

Saltwater Report:
9/1/2010
Only a handful of reports from IBSP yesterday. Fluke being caught on GULP. You better get out before Earl shows up. If it comes close or hits us the surf could be unfishable for days. Party boaters are doing well with bigger bluefish right now.
Bay / Jetty Report:
9/1/2010
I have not heard anymore about the weakfish in Barnegat Bay but snappers are still around and if you chum with clam chum the blowfishing is getting better. The BI and BB buoys are good places to start. Also heard of some blackfish being caught as well. No reports out of Great Bay and Tuckerton Bay. Don't forget only 6 days left in fluke season. We have all saltwater Gulp (except eels) and large squid hoods on sale.
Fresh Water Report:
9/1/2010
Few were fishing yesterday I guess because of the heat. Some bass, sunnies, and catfish were caught from Town Center. A few bass and pickeral were caught from Miry Run. And that is all I heard yesterday.

Jingles Bait and Tackle fishing report, Beach Haven 9-01-10
Mon Sept 1st
We will post when we hear Holgate has opened!
Warm morning! It is 76 at 5:30 with a matching water temp. Very lite wind from the west.
We are getting to my favorite time of the year here on L.B.I. with the cool nites and warm days.
Another nice day before what ever we are going to get from Earl. Small craft advisories are going into effect later to day for seas for right now enjoy the day.
Bunker pods off the beach yesterday with small blues in them. Dolphin pushed small blues on the beach later afternoon yesterday. Maybe that was our local celebrity Dolphin number 56 that is here this time of the year. Thanks for the picture.

Scotts Bait and Tackle, Mystic Island,Fishing report 9-01-10
Monday, August 30, 2010 /\/\/\ 5:42pm
Plenty of anglers enjoyed a good day of fishing, but not a whole lot of catching going on anywhere. Good news is scarce, so just focus on a few good days ahead.
Live eels have arrived! A handful of anglers have been checking weekly. I think some folks know something about some local bass. I have heard the occasional sixteen inch bass caught while fishing for some other species and one real good visual report of busting water bass down along Brigantine Beach. Who knows? Just maybe there is an excuse to drag an eel. Some anglers seem to think so.

Captain Andy's Fishing Report, Margate City, NJ, 9-01-10
Fishing Report 8-30-2010
As the summer of 2010 fades and fall approaches, the thoughts of anglers start to migrate toward the Tuna bite, Tog fishing and the ever-popular Striper. Looks like this week will be somewhat of a washout with Earl coming up the coast.
The Flounder fishing has somewhat slowed down in the bays as the fish have been making their way out front to the reef sites and local wrecks. There are plenty of small Bluefish in the bays and are great fun on small tackle and a small piece of metal (snapper zapper). Most of these fish are in the 1 to 2 lbs range. Around the sod banks and bridges the Tog fishing has steadily been improving with a few fish topping the 18-inch mark.
Out front the beaches have been giving up some nice catches of Kingfish and Spot. Every now and then someone will hook into a small Striper. Out on the reef sites and wrecks the Flounder fishing is improving every day. Many anglers have brought back 6 to 12 fish that have topped to 20 inch mark. There was even one that topped 9 lbs. on our scale. Legal Sea bass, Bluefish and plenty of Croakers are there for your taking. A few areas of interest include the Mud Wreck, the Collier, Coral Bottom and or the Stone beds. It seems most of the fish are in 60 to 85 feet of water.
This past week the reports from the deep seemed to have dropped off. We are still waiting to hear from the boats that did an over night trip on Saturday.
The Atlantic City/Absecon Island Surf Derby gets under way on the 20th of September and runs until the 31st. of October. Click here for details or visitparticipating tackle shops. Badges will be available after this coming Tuesday.
LOCAL CATCHES
1. Nate Libertoff of Long Island, NY had a 6 lb. Flounder on Saturday. He was fishing with Rob Sobel at the Coral bottom.
2. Ed Cunningham of Sewell N.J. had a 3 lb. 6 oz. Flounder at The GE Reef on Friday. He was fishing aboard the Jessie ěOî.
3. Geo Schreider of Phila. Had a Spanish Mackerel at the Margate Pier this past week.
4. Craig Tragbar of Margate had a nice 9 lb. Flounder from the GE Reef on Saturday.

The Chum Bucket Fishing Report, West Creek, NJ, 9-01-10
Hutchs' Report 8/31/10
Written by Jim Hutchinson
Tuesday, 31 August 2010
The boats of the Beach Haven Charter fishing Association have been sneaking out on successful fishing trips in between northeasters and tropical storms. Captain Carl Sheppard on the “Star Fish” reports he had some great trips. The spawning season for the black sea bass is just about over and he sees improvement in the catches of sea bass. He says there are occasional keeper fluke in the back bay, but the best action is in the ocean. Both the Little Egg and Garden State South Reefs provided im with some keeper fluke. He is also picking up a dozen bluefish each day around the inlet on his way out to the reefs. Captain Fran Verdi reports his parties are coming home with a mixed bag of fluke and sea bass. He has also gotten some good reports of croakers and small weakfish along the beach the last couple of days. He plans to target sea bass when the fluke season closes on September 6 and work on them until the stripers arrive. Captain Lindsay Fuller of the “June Bug” had a fluke trip for the Jeff Lawrence party recently. Although the keeper fluke did not cooperate, some nice keeper sea bass did. Captain Lindsay praised mate Pat Zazaky for his work in the cockpit and getting tangles straightened out. Additional information on the association can be found at www.BHCFA.com or by calling 1-877-LBI-BHCFA (1-877-524-2423).

Last day before school starts, fished the BL Reef and a few spots near the range buoy ended up with about 20 shorts and 2 keeper fluke (19" & 21") and 3 sea bass. Tough fishing conditions - no wind, no drift. Got the fluke by creating my own drift bumping in and out of gear. Fluke reluctant to hit - Sounder showed a lot of junk just off the bottom. Not sure what this storm is going bring us.

Rented a boat out of Bobbie's in Barnegat Light with my son Brock. Headed over to the BI buoy and anchored up then started to chum with ground bunker. Action was slow at first, then all the snappers you could possibly want also small seabass. Switched to ground clam and the blowfish turned on. Finished with keeping 23 blowfish and a porgie. Lots of throwbacks. A great way to spend a day on the water.

Sea Devil Charters Fishing Report, Pleasant Beach, NJ, 9-01-10
New Jersey Fishing Report...By Captain Bob Pennington
Tuesday, August 31: Another great day on the Sea Devil! Captain Bob sailed to the Shark River Reef and made a drift after spotting big blues stacked thick on the bottom. Immediately, many anglers were hooked into big blues on jigs. Some hit the deck, some spit the jigs. There was lots of excitement & mayhem. Young Griffin Mullett, Madison, NJ had the first big blue fish to hit the deck. Soon, his dad, Conor and friend, Jonathan Butler, Summit, had some big blues hit the deck. Happy Birthday to Frank Reams, Mt Ephraim, NJ. He and Al DeVito, Cherry Hill, were each catching them both with bait and jigs all day. Joe Bender and friends, Cresco, PA, had a blast reeling in the big blues. While Joe, Billy, Rich, Dennis and others caught a few early on, John finally got the knack of it and had a few big blues hit the deck himself. There was a steady pick at the blues for most of the day, with a few ferocious flurries of fish and Bob only had to make 1 move. All in all, a very good day, with all anglers bagging big blue fish. Don’t listen to the weathermen! The seas are calm and we expect they will remain calm right through Thursday! Plan to arrive at the dock by 7 a.m.
